Re: buying stuff off other members
Great to hear good news.
Thats why i like to attend detecting together meets. You meet the guys/girls, have fun, nice time and you know who you are dealing with instead of nicknames behind pc.Also you can understand their sense of humor instead getting upset if something is posted and you interpret it differently.
I have meet maybe 20-30 members and have only nice things to say about them.Detected with lot of them.
Lot of them try to teach me tricks of the trades and they get frustrated if i don't find a gold while detecting together. They make me laugh. They want you to do well. They take you to ''their spots'' ,they put the setting on detector etc.
Great people.
And i know i found gold because of them. I will do the same and pass my limited knowledge (so far) to others new members. One day hope to take some new members around as well and show them the way.
As everything in life sometimes we have challenges and once we look back they made us stronger.
Same is with this forum, sometimes there are some things which makes us angry BAD, but with everyone ideas/help/anger we move forward.
There are so many great people here and some forum members who took/take me around detecting and sluicing THANKS.
You know who you are.
Wish you plenty gold ahead on your detecting path.
Cheers

Re: buying stuff off other members
Steve it was no dramas at all. Now remember to leave some gold behind for the others. Steve was a great guy to deal with as well. I hope you recovered well after the races mate.
As for what I've been reading about Tim, very disappointing. At least one of us is doing the right thing. Guys if he's selling Garret gear is he an authorized Garrett dealer? If he is it may be an avenue for you to follow. If need any advice send me a message so it stays out of the way of other readers.

Re: buying stuff off other members
He's not a Garrett dealer, its just something he bought, and I guess thought he would resell it, which would have worked fine if he had bothered to send the items after being paid.

Re: buying stuff off other members
I have purchased many items and gold off forum members and it has been all positive to date. I buy on my terms, if the seller does not like it, then they don't proceed, simple, effective and no issues to date.
Just a thought but many be a sub section in the buy and sell to list positive buyers and sellers. No guarantees but people can be listed here ( if they want ) and then the lusters can be contacted for reference. This is by no means fool proof, but at least it gives the new buyer / seller more information??
Just my thoughts

I feel disappointed about this, a number of us castigated pwt for ripping off Tim.

Re: buying stuff off other members
Hi All,
As the newbie here I thought I would share my experience of buying items through the forum.
My first experience was when I saw an item advertised in GumTree it looked too good to be true so I asked the forum members and it turned out to be a fake Minelab metal detector so I was saved from a big mistake there.
I think it comes down to the old saying Caveat Emptor, "Let the buyer beware".
My second experience was when Maka mentioned he had some items to swap with someone in a recent post so I jumped on this and purchased them off him instead. The whole transaction took place using the PM feature of the forum and after about 3 PM's I had paid for and picked up the goods within an hour of first making contact with him (a record in terms of sales via the forum I think).
So now I am the proud owner of a genuine Coiltek 24x12 UFO coil with lower shaft included which I will use as a patch finder.
It was great meeting Maka he is a top bloke and a pleasure to do business with so I can highly recommend him to other forum members if you are thinking of purchasing something from him.
So overall I have only ever had a positive experience when it comes to this forum.
Regards,
Grant
