I'm thinking of buying a Treasure Snoop for beach detecting, has anyone ever used or own one ? Does anyone recommend them ? Are there any other detectors around the same price ($279) that are better ?

Hi Dirt Poor
I tried one not long ago,you really get what you pay for with this one.Better save your money I,m sure for a bit more you could buy a secondhand quality beach detector.

I bought a couple of them for fun and both perform really well. It will not find tiny gold but works really well with coins and rings etc. I gave one to my daughter and she loves it and often goes coin hunting with it. I haven't tried it in wet sand yet so I can't tell you how it would perform there.
Cheers

Hey dirt poor. For beach detecting I say no. If you are looking at that range go the gold snoop pro. It will handle the wet sand where as the treasure snoop won't. Have you got one yet? If not drop me a message & I'll do you a better price.

Oops Sorry, yep, mine are Gold Snoops. (Pros if that means anything) Actually they can be 'hotted' up quite well. Gotta do mine when I can find some TL054s

Yeah, bought one for my kids to play with on the beach. They are an ok setector for little ones as everything they find is "treasure", but get the gold snoop mate. Much better machine,
Saying that, I wouldnt (and did'nt) pay $279 for it. Bought it from ebay, brand new, still in the box and paid $140

Gold snoops are cheap nasty crap..

Are you going after mainly coins? If so go a Fisher F4. They eat up the gold coins with no worries at all. Send me a message for prices & info.

Yes the X-terra 305 is a good choice for little money, has a range in the menu for ground balance and you can run a HFreq. eliptical coil on these to help find gold.also if just general coin an such the budget Whites coinmaster is a good choice,as is the basic garretts Ace series from 150 or 250 model.as mentioned the basic Fisher F series are cheap price point and Quality. You get your money back on these budget units all. all probably around the $300 mark to get you started.cheaply for the basic detector. options are of course extra as you may require, but readily available.
