Some Lowlife Stole my Trailer!!!
Came home to find my Tandem trailer stolen, supposedly loaded onto a tilt truck in broad daylight from my
driveway. Had it securely locked and wheels chained, but it's gone, gone, gone.
Have spent the last year setting it up to carry all my gold detecting gear, Quad/motorbike/solars etc.
Cops don't hold out much hope, so back to the drawing board.
Has anyone installed GPS into their equipment, to track it if stolen? How does it work and where do I start?
Cheers, Buckinroo Jake.

Re: Some Lowlife Stole my Trailer!!!
Sorry to hear Buckinroo Jake, the nerve of some *****
A civil company I used to work for in Geelong had gps tracking in all of thier machinery.
Here is one website that will give you some info GPS TRACKING
There are a couple of different types like live tracking or one that you can detect if needed, the above link will at least give you a heads up on what is out there and point you in the right direction.
I hope your trailer is recovered.

Stolen Trailer.
Thanks for the info fella's, much appreciated. Still can't believe that anyone could/would steal it under
my nose. What wouldn't I give to have had a tracking device fitted!!.
Am going to get 4 devices to cover my gear and monitor them online. God help the next A##wipe who
thinks he has gotten away with anything of mine. Justice is best, delivered slowly with a smile.
Cheers, BRJ.

How many tilt tray trucks could there be in the area in a 50km radious?
I would be in the yellow pages phoning all to see what info you may find. If truck was seen, colour may also help.
best of luck

Good idea. Depending on where you live, Gold Coast? Many of the main roads there have cctv, but you would need the Police to go through the footage, if you can give them an approximate time and really hassle them to do it, maybe they will.
Good luck with it.

Tracking
I realize this is a bit late now, however ....
As an owner of an interstate trucking company I can tell you that there are plenty of tracking devices to put into vehicles, but as you don't have a power supply in a trailer (unless you're smart enough to hot wire your bike or the like) you're a bit stumped.
I had a driver go 'walkabout' a few months back, with some story that the truck had been stolen while he was in a roadhouse showering. Of course, it was all a set-up ... and it was all too obvious ... so a call to a few of the local police stations (in Newcastle) later, one lovely officer told me to ring the guys who monitor the overhead cameras on the highways/freeways.
Cut a long story short ... tracked the truck right across NSW and down into Newcastle. Found it in a back street ABANDONED with the load still intact (thank goodness)
Needless to say .... he doesn't work for us anymore ... but the truck and trailer continue to earn us a living wage
There's more than one way to skin a cat ........
