Hey Mate,
Just got back from WA and bought one of these coils to go over with,Iam using an SD2100, thought the coil on this machine was fantastic, a bit of ground balancing required but great sensitivity on all size nugget's.
A great coil IMHO. Also great on the GPX 4500.

G'day Andywho. Welcome to the Forum.

You'll find the 17x11 on the SD2200 a good all rounder, actually one of the better and quieter coils to use in creeks and bedded clay gullies especially when it comes to maneuverability over rocky terrain or ducking and weaving between shrubs, but like all monos,it will get noisy once your over the more hotter mineralized flats. You can compensate a little for hot rocks and hot ground by running your 2200 in tracking and your Level Adjust dial fully anticlockwise but not if working in fixed mode.

Cheers kon61.

Thanks very much for that info just in time as my freind almost had me convinced that i should trade it on in and get a 14'' DD il stick it out with the nugget finder for now even though my last mission to dunnolly on the weekend was testing i got all the way up there on my own and connected the 17'' nf to my sd2200 and went about things the way i allways have wow i dident have a clue what was going on it seemed like there was a target every 10 inches or so i dident cope very well with that at all so i pulled the pin and drove to maryborough and went to the gold center shop on the dunnolly road where the staff there where very helpfull and even offerd to lend me a DD coil for free to get me through the day but the advice he did give me was great and i was able to go back to the feilds to resume where i left off wich was great so i lerned another lesson on the fine art of detecting

Hi andywho. I use a 2200d and I tried using a mono for a very brief time. I cant handle alot of noise and it drove me crazy. I know the monos have a depth advantage over the DDs but for me that is pointless when the detector is making that much noise that I cant hear those faint signals. Monos would be great in quiet ground but the majority of the land in the Golden Triangle is mineralised and on a 2200 I recon you'll find it too noisey to comfortably use. On a 4500/5000 you can compensate by tuning the detector to cut some of the noise out, but not so on the 2200. For me, whilst I'm using the 2200 in Vic, I'll stick to DDs and what I loose in depth, I gain in quietness (& sanity). You too may find the same....time will tell. Let us know your verdict.
