Thanks for the good wishes fellas, I guess it is like living the dream, doing what you want to do, not what you have to do makes a big difference.
We scored another nice piece today it weighted 8.5 grams, it has a little quartz attached but should clean up quite nice, just a good long soaking in Oxalic Acid for this one to whiten the quartz should be all it needs.
8.5g nugget
cheers dave
Is Oxalic Acid the same as hydrochloric acid as I have tried that with y little tinny bits but they don't look all that better.

G'day Jamie
Oxalic Acid and Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) are 2 different things. HCL will eat out ironstone and general dirt and stuff, Oxalic Acid is much more mild and is a salt type stuff to look at and you mix it with water at about 50g / 1litre and let the specie soak in it, take it out every day and scrub it and change the solution every couple of days or so.
Oxalic won't eat the quartz that is attached to the gold but just takes out the orange stain and makes the quartz nice and white.
When finished, soak the specie in a warm solution of bi-carb soda for 5 or 10 minutes to netural any acid, do this with whatever acid you use after cleaning nuggets or species.
cheers dave
Thanks Dave.

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Well done both of you. I guess there are little ones popping up as well? If not, slow down your swing. I miss WA so much. I still have some bits I found there back in 1980 era. (and I remember where I found them too)

Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Great post dave, thanks for the nice pics and story, sounds like the 3 months on the road were fantastic.
Did you get tired from digging up so much gold to pull the plug after 3 months, or is the weather getting too hot already in the West?
