Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
For the big coil swingers!
Coiltek now have stock of their new carbon fibre upper shafts for Minelab Pi's
and also longer, stronger fibreglass lower shafts, pic's can be viewed on on Nuggethunting Forum
as Doc claims to have designed them.
Prices are a lot lower then the competition.

Wow, Doc has halved his selling price ...............so now he will have to sell twice as many to maintain his sales.

Hi Inhere, I'm really interested but Doc is in the US and you've given a number but whose number is it and what cost can we get them here in Oz? Maybe Coiltek in Maryborough might stock them too? Does anyone know?

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
G'day CostasDee, here are the prices.
BTW I have no connection other than as a customer!
carbon fibre upper shafts for your Minelab at $75.00 each and
longer stronger lower shafts at.
28" - $29.00
32" - $35.00
40" - $40.00
08 82856896 is Miners den SA.
I only gave that phone No because I had a bit of a run around
Chaseing Coiltek SA, who supplied me with a wrong phone number.

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
Thx Inhere.
I thought I saw these last week at Miner's Den in Melb, but I though the prices were higher. I'll have to look again. I appreciate the pricelist. Damn good prices, even if they are a little more than the vid at Docs. I wonder if they do the "package Deal" that Doc talked about?
Cheers again

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
I recently bought lower shafts to fit my OTTO upper shaft from Miners Den in Melbourne and they didn't fit They landed taken them of the shelf as they were 1/2mm to large in the diameter they gave me my money back and sent them back to get resized and then repainted.

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
got mine to fit using lots of sandpaper! has made a big difference - can now keep the coil on the ground

Its a bit like the Minelab lower shafts and trying to get them to fit the OTTO upper shaft, plenty of sand paper needed.

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
I got my money back because I paid for a new shaft that they said would fit and if I got the sand paper on it, it's like buying a second hand shaft If it doesn't fit than why bother

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
I had a dream the other night that Minelab actually thought about their product and they came out with a $6300 detector that had fibre upper and lower shafts that were of a length that people over 5ft 10 inches high could use without suffering back injury from being hunched over all the time..
Like i said it was a dream.
Tributer
PS I bet all the Minelab testers must be shorties.

Yeah m8 I think they just move the OTTO top & bottom shaft from the last machine that was tested to the next one.
So who's fault is it that the aftermarket shafts don't fit the various combinations. Minelab's fit minelab's and OTTO's fit OTTO's and now the Coiltek's fit Coiltek's, the plot thickens.
I do like the longer lower OTTO shaft, gets the coil out in front a bit further, or better to reach under bushes and shrubs etc.

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
I don't know what you guys are on about, most of what you are writing must refer to
otto shafts only.
These Coiltek shafts are interchangeable with the Minelab shafts.
You can fit minelab lower shafts into the carbonfibre Coiltek upper, they are the exact
same diameter, just that the Coiltek lower can be had up to 40" long.
The coil end fits all Minelab and Coiltek coils but is tight in some NF coils but
to me that is for NF to address because they can be tight in the standard Minelab
lower shaft.
PS. I agree with Tributer that Minelab should supply fibreglass shafts as standard
but till that ever happens, for my money these Coiltek shafts are a superb bit of gear.

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
Gday
Some of the minelab lower shafts will fit into the upper otto fibreglass shaft, but its usually the older worn ones, some of the later ones will fit into the otto top shaft reciever hole but if you try and push it in too far to shorten the shaft they will get really stuck.
I even bought an otto lower shaft that did the same thing so I guess there are some inconsistancies with the sizing of them, if the coiltek ones are exactly the same size as the minelab shaft then that would make it a lot easier.
I dont really think it of any advantage to change from the minelab standard shaft to the otto or coiltek ones unless you are going to be using coils 18" and over consistantly, if you only use a 14" coil as your biggest coil then I wouldnt bother with it, or if you are a taller person and just want the extra length you can then just buy the longer lower shaft and keep your standard top shaft.

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
For me I'll use Accuturns true carbon fiber shafts they are lighter, stronger and 100% protruded carbon fiber.
Custom made lengths. And 2 piece uppers (for travel) available.
I had one made a bit longer to go past the rear of control box a few inches, thats where I hang my battery/speaker Instead of off the side Helps with balancing out the large coils and more important to me keeps, the weight on the centerline.

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
Hi, Re the otto shafts, I must have been lucky as have purchased 3 long lower shafts over the last 15 mths and had no issues with any of them. Mebe was just a bad batch. Is great to have one on each coil so is easy to change over.

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
Seems nice, strong and light, but seems to me to be a tad on the expensive side but then again I haven't done too much researsh into the price of carbon ones before.

Yes, Minelab forget about us ex basketball players and could have been basketball players. I can't see why minelab could not make the top and bottom shaft longer as a standard setup. They can still be shorterned up for the users who are vertically challenged. I might contact them and suggest it could be part of an improvement on the next model.

Re: Coiltek's new carbon fibre shafts!
Hi All
Just wondering if the CF Shafts from Coiltek are actually
100% carbon fiber. A way to save $ is to make the core from
fiberglass and wrap it with 300k CF cloth. When I started
this I looked at using a combination, but not as strong or
as lite. Also I manufacture mine in the USA in my own
shop. Two and a half years and not one complaint.
Three year repair or replace warranty.
Custom lengths available.
Not made in China!
Best Regards and Cheers

Hi Herb / pvgold
Do you have a website or Austrailian distributor for your upper M/L detector shafts ?
Also roughly what would be the price in US $ for a 4" shorter than standard length , upper shaft ?
Cheers

Hi DB
Making a shorter upper, no problem. Same price as the 32".
Shipping is about 30.00 with ins. and tracking. The catch
is I can ship 4 shafts for the same price, it's a weight thing
with Priority mail but still the most economical.
So it's best to buddy up and order multiples to save $s.
I can't post a website as I'm new here, but you can Google
accuturnmfg carbon fiber shafts, should get you there. Or
email/PM me or my buddy detectoraid.
Best Regards and Cheers!
