Let's Consider the Choices in the 11/12" mono Coil range.
Gday all.
Looking to buy an 11" /12" mono coil to complement my coil selection.
(You may have read a recent post in the General area about them being cheaper from the USA! )
Choices are 11" minelab, 11" coiltek and 12" NF in the ROUND shapes.
I already have an elliptical NF17", and round ML 18" - so i am looking to add a smaller mono to my collection. At some stage i probably will also add a small 8"/10x5" mono.
Prices are as follows:
12" NuggetFinder $390 wt ?
11" Coiltek $225 wt?
11" Minelab $245 wt?
I only wish i knew what each one weighed? The manufacturers dont seem to specify?
On the basis of your experience with the above coils, which one would you choose and why?
Cheers

Cheers Xenon.
Good info to have.
The 12" coilteks - i could only find the 11" DD and mono ones on their website?
Are these the ones?

G'day FFS.
For your sake, grab yourself an 8 inch Commander mono and you wont look back.No need for an 11 or 12 inch round since you already have a 17x11 NF mono.
Cheers kon61.

Re: Let's Consider the Choices in the 11/12" mono Coil range.
Gday neale / Kon61,
I am wrestling with that decision!!
I was going to get a small mono but am also undecided between the 10x5" elliptical or the 8" round?
It would be interesting to see which one of these two that people like the best.
Cheers

Re: Let's Consider the Choices in the 11/12" mono Coil range.
I forgot to add that i use both a GP3500 and an SD2100 (as backup).
So i would like to be able to use the mono on the 2100 and was thinking that the 8" ml mono was really noisy with this detector?
I was reading some info from people who noted that the 11" monos ran quieter - especially in regards to threshold noises?
I know plenty of people who have used the 8" with the 2100 but would like to hear other peoples thoughts.
Cheers

Re: Let's Consider the Choices in the 11/12" mono Coil range.
FFS, the old 8" sepergoldsearch with the 2100 was the combo i used to find my first bit of gold. That coil was the model that had the join in the cable, and was a problematic coil i feel.
The latter commander 8" is a lot more stable, and coupled to the 2100 will only compliment the detector compared to the early one.
As for the unstable threshold noise from the 2100, get use to it, its part and parcel of that detector.
A small coil gives a very strong field, so will cause the detector to be somewhat nosier on hot ground, a bigger coil will lesson this effect but add more EMI. You could opt to use from memory ch1 only which was the quieter of the two channels with the smaller coil, which by design are for small gold.
However, these combos wont come close to that of your 3500 for both stability or sensitivity.
If you opt for an ADV model, it will work very well on your 3500, but feel it will only highlight the unstable thresh from your 2100 more then an older model coil, these coils run a lot quieter over noisy ground compared to the older models coils, but i also feel that when EMI is present they highlight that also.
A good combo for your 3500 would be either the 12x7 or 14x7 ADV mono's, they should run a little smoother then a commander, but may not go quite as deep.
My advice, try before you buy.
