Re: "Team work or no team work"..........
Too many times have I returned to a spot to find it cleaned out the following days/weekend. Now I work with a few good mates I could at least leave my wallet or missus with

Only detect and share with one or two other people i say. Of course this is in relation to patch hunting, spreading out and using radios. Its the way to go to increase your chances of coming back from a trip of a few days, a couple weeks or a season with a good tally. When you get sick of patch hunting and head to some digging where there is only the odd bit you may decide to keep what you find and then share again when you go out patch hunting again.
I could not cope with going out and having one person find and sit on a patch of many ounces while your buddy circles around trying to find something nearby.
Either way, as mentioned by others you must be very clear about what the group will do re sharing/not sharing gold finds before you start detecting. If i don't know them well i would not share because there is so much of temptation for people to stick the nuggets they dig in their boot.

I tend to agree with you Geof_junk its a pretty basic agreement that both parties are aware of and is basically a luck of the draw (or lay of the land).geof_junk wrote:I had a terrific mate as a prospector, not one problem. We did not share the gold we found but kept what we found, but always let one and other know as soon as we found one. If he found it I would ask which way are you gridding and take the second choice and vice versa.
As offen the case when one of us pings a piece, the other asked which way are you heading and we would keep our distances but still work the same area.
If my M8 doesnt seem be able to find the tail end/edge of the run/ or its a very small area of gold usaually ill just walk off the area (after i recon i have got the vasy majority) for a while and give him a go, and he does the same thing.
AS for more than 2 people Hmmmmm dont know maybe go as group and establish a common camp and then split up for the days detecting with your M8, but unless you know the other people extremly well this may also lead to drama as offen is the case involving gold.
