A new metal detecting store at Mudgee in NSW
Was looking at google and came across this store in Mudgee in NSW. Did not even know there was a Metal Detector store out that way. Had a look at the website they have up and very professional looking and well laid out. The thing that got me is they have photos up of each and every metal detector coil imaginable which is a dream to look at and think about what you want and wish to buy for further prospecting trips. ie NuggetFinder,Coilteck and Minelab coils ie Commanders etc.
Also what i thought was different and interesting is that they sell gold nuggets as well, Aboriginal art and dog muzzles. ( Dog muzzles are useful ) As on many a trip i have seen someones pet eat a lizard or bug and get sick or worse with dingo baiting and black berry spraying in some areas now. Seems to have a bit of everything for the avid prospector or metal detectorist OR TRAVELLING NOMAD.
Do not know if this has been posted before about this store but it is worth googling and having a look at the Website. NUGGETS DOWN UNDER is the name of the place.

I think they are called Nuggets from Downunder.
I'm booked in for a 3 day trip with them in April.
I have only communicated with them via e-mail, but they seam very polite and invited me in for a tea of coffee.

Re: A new metal detecting store at Mudgee in NSW
That's standard stock for a detecting store. We've had plenty of threads about them here in the past since they opened. Something that went unmentioned was that all the previous stores that opened in Bathurst and Mudgee went under in the past due to their remote location and lack of local customers. Hard to say if they're too remote or not since they're hundreds of km from the main bulk of potential customers.
You know business has got to be tough when they add PUPPIES to the online sales list. I'm betting they don't deliver critters by mail.

Marco, the Puppies are mine and Kim is doing me a favour by putting them on her web site. If anyone wants a good Smithfield Black Kelpie cross prospecting dog let me know, the mum (Mia as seen at the end of "The SETA Project" DVD) is one of the best prospecting companions I have ever had.

Jonathan,
I got a copy of the Seta Project about a year ago and was surprised to see you companion at the end of the DVD. You dog looked very much the same as my old mate Ben who we had for 16 years. We were told when he was about 5yrs that he was a "Smithfield" the forunners of the modern Blue Healer.
For anyone interested in you pups let me say that Ben was the most magnificent animal anyone could ever want for, he was the most obeident dog I and anyone who meet him had ever met. I only had to look at him and he knew what I would want from him, move -sit-come-heel, whatever.
In his early years he lived on the back of my work truck (protection, no locks there) he never took anyone out as nobody ever challenged him, yet if I spoke to any stranger or customer he would immeadiatly befriend them.
The loyalty of these dogs is far better than many humans.
When we retired from plumbing he spent his latter years bushwalking and climbing with me in the mountains.
His only downfall was he could eat like a horse... this may have been due to him being born on the 1st of August!
They are truly fantastic companions.

Phill for a second there I thought someone had done a Photoshop job on our faithful old hound Digit. Frieda and I still get a wrench whenever we talk about her, she was so faithful, a true companion to Frieda and sorely missed. Trying to fill the void has been a very painful thing for us since she died. Our new mutt Mia has bonded with me for some reason and because we are now more settled on a decent amount of acreage we can easily have two dogs, so decided to get a litter of pups out of Mia, hence the Puppies for sale ad on Kim's website.
Mia had a litter of 10 pups, one was still born and so far three have gone to good homes, with one feisty little bugger aptly named Snippet having made a place in our hearts and home to be Frieda's new companion. That leaves 5 little 10 week old tear-aways to find good homes for (3 males and 2 females), so if anyone is coming to Clermont and wants a good little prospecting companion look me up.
BTW Mia is a snake killer, took us a while to figure out why the occasional dead snake on the lawn, I absolutely do not encourage this but she keeps doing it whether I like it or not.

Great looking dog Phil, i travel with my red heeler everywhere, totally loyal and a great companion. JP my heelers been trained to leave snakes and lizards alone, but my jack russel is dynamite on them. Since i sold the farms and moved back to surburbia the only fun the jack russel gets is eliminating the neighbours cats that stray into my yard. mallee00 and the mutt
PS i have no trouble carrying cats by the tail after the jack russels deal with them

Re: A new metal detecting store at Mudgee in NSW
I have personally been into the Mudgee store, and all I can say is hats off to Kim and her partner. The amount of locals and people that I have seen in there when I last visited, Laughing over coffee and having good general chit chat was very uplifting. Also their knowledge and customer service is outstanding. I find their Website very easy to use and it has everything on there you could imagine! (even puppies)
They musnt be doing too bad if they're opening a store in WA, Give credit where credit is due and not be so critical about how successful their wonderful store is.

Re: A new metal detecting store at Mudgee in NSW
JP: I thought they must have been sold already. (Nice looking dogs, btw). There's certainly no direct competition between locations though what I said about it being a struggle in that region is correct. A number of stores have operated in the region that were most likely hampered by lower numbers of the immediate population. Sadly they went bust. One of them did so whilst owing an acquaintance of mine quite a bit of money.

Re: A new metal detecting store at Mudgee in NSW
Iv lived in Mudgee from 85 to 2004, never seen no shop selling detectors or sundries other than the Tandy special.... at Tandy. I could be wrong.?
I think NFDU are going to do VERY well with the shop, and any thing new they can add to it will be long lasting, as its right on the goldfeilds.

There was a prospecting store in Bathurst.......The Miner's Hut - 91 George Street, Bathurst.
I made a flying visit to it a few years ago, while the impatient other half waited in the car. I raced in and bought an extra gold pan, had a quick squizz, I remember seeing all sorts of fossicking gear, pans, books, maps, picks etc.
They could have sold detectors as well, but my focus was on gold pans. I called in again several months later to have a proper look but the shop had closed down.
Look it up on Google Maps - the sign writing on the facade is still there.
Cheers

Re: A new metal detecting store at Mudgee in NSW
Just found confirmation that The Miners Hut did sell detectors: http://www.theminershut.blogspot.com/
They also had an Ebay Store: http://myworld.ebay.com.au/the-miners-hut
Isn't the internet wonderful!
My full admiration goes to anyone who follows their dream and leaves a "secure job" to start their own business.
NFDU all the best for the future.
Cheers

PS: Osama, do you prefer park or water views?

Re: A new metal detecting store at Mudgee in NSW
G'day, Well after reading and making a comment on the thread about Nuggets from Down Under, I had a look at thier website (Friday) and placed an order of a couple of books plus a couple of other bits n pieces.
Well to my surprise upon returning home from work tonight (Monday), here sits a box full of my bits from Nuggets from Down Under.
With my experience now with Nuggets from Down Under, I can not speak highly enough of the store.
Super service above all expectations. I will be back!!
Cheers
