Detecting in the Northern Territory
Hi All
Because of the new Mining Act and Regulations of the Northern Territory 2011 a petition has been created
due to a number of unhappy prospectors / fossickers.
Took me a couple of goes to get the wording kinda right.
Anyhow have a look and sign if it is of concern to you.

Re: Detecting in the Northern Territory
PS lads this concerns you you and you if you desire to come up here to the Northern Territory to prospect for gold.
This also affects the tourist industry and companies that support the prospector etc
This is still a prime region for nuggets yet discovered..and less talked about .
Send this link to your mates or other forums chat lines .whatever...

Gef, 208 views at this post a moment ago, should be close to 208 signatories. The ramifications of the NT Governments rules & regs have the potential to go Australia wide. Everyone, Dont think for a moment it wont happen !

Re: Detecting in the Northern Territory
Yes, I signed a couple of days ago.
Had a quick trip to the NT 2 years ago.
I reckon theres heaps to be found up there
but the conditions are a bit tough for some
of us southerners.
For the time I was there I found gold everywhere I tried, enough
to realise if I stayed in any one spot I would have covered costs.( at least).
Would love to go back each winter but my wifes not so keen... I'll work on that.
Good luck with the petition.

Re: Detecting in the Northern Territory
Unlike other states the N.T. conditions dont really allow 12month access due to weather and ground conditions eg the grasses and boggy conditions after the wet.. so this leaves us with approx 4 months access... if ur lucky to get away.Alan WA wrote:Yes, I signed a couple of days ago.

Re: Detecting in the Northern Territory
You have my signiture, as I just might like to go up to the NT one day for a bit of a detect. But the main thing we should ALL think of is if this gets in at the NT it may then filted down to ALL other states, so not only will this effect the boys in the NT but us as well were ever you live. So put your signiture on the pertition and stop the bast**ds now, or you may regret it later.

Hi everyone,
I have signed the petition and think it is a great idea.
I would also suggest to individually send emails to the minister and the chief minister. I can't locate their email addresses today, if someone has them to post here, it won't take long to send a short but firm email to get our message across.
I know if I was to receive one petition and also 200 emails I would feel threatened from the amount of emails.
Best Regards and lets hope 2012 is a ripper.

Re: Detecting in the Northern Territory
Hi guys,
Well i am #62 so let's keep it going guys I don't know about you but personally I am sick of the governments forgetting how much this country owes individual prospectors. No wonder the Eureka rebellion came about, but they still haven't learned from that.
I moved from Qld to Vic just so I had somewhere to prospect how ridiculous is that in a country that grew tremendously due to prospectors.
Anyway just sign the form and let's get back to our birthright of looking for the yellow.
Cheers,
Peter

Done....
I also emailed Kezia PURICK (shadow Minister for Mining) several weeks ago suggesting that the CLP should have more popular policy in relation to fossicking and prospecting.

Re: Detecting in the Northern Territory
Hi Gang, I've done my bit by signing also. N.T might be our last frontier after W.A if we can save their rights. Can't help thinking QLD prospectors have already been shafted & maybe worst off than N.T. I know this petition is about N.T's prospecting laws, but while this is all happening I'm just expressing my anger & frustrations about this states governments ridiculous controlling influence that I have to tolerate! Hi guys,
Just signed up #89
Maybe change the title of the post to
To All Prospectors, NT Needs Your Help Now
I looked at you title and thought it was someone after a location in the NT to detect at so I skipped over it a couple of time before going into it??
Just my thoughts
Pete

Re: Detecting in the Northern Territory
I signed on at #79
I also wrote an email to the Minister and the Shadow Minister. Got a reply from the Shadow this morning.
Nothing from the Minister yet!! Par for the course I suppose. Although it is far easier to promise things as a shadow minister as when you are not in Government you can't do much anyway. She did say she has heard from a few prospectors. Maybe if the opposition yells loud enough the Government will have to respond somehow.

Re: Detecting in the Northern Territory
Unfortunately, a lot of the "signatures" on the petition are probably invalid.
I mean, what sort of affirmative response is "anonymous, of no address, no state, no region and no comment" Now that's going to hold a lot of sway isn't it?
If this is what you are going to put, don't bother, as it just indicates the general malaise of the public at large.
Have the courage of your convictions, do it properly and be prepared to back your vote with words at least!
