Took a Goldseeker 15000 on the beach yesterday

My old Minelab rocked up yesterday so i jumped in the car and hit the rockingham beach for a couple of hours

I thought i would be stuffing around with nobs and having all sorts of trouble but within 2 minutes i found my first bottle top. 1 of maybe 30 i pulled out. I found and old Emu Export can more then 1 foot down and a pull tab about a foot down
The best find was a rusty 5 cent coin, that went in a jar im gonna throw all the cool stuff in.

I found that on the rusty old junk (nothing but rust) the signal would disappear or null out (whatever it's called) while the coins and pulltabs the signal sound would increase dramaticly. Pinpointing was a piece of cake and the Goldseeker 15000 was pulling targets that were still a foot away from the centre of the loop.

I found that close to the water where the sand was wet the machine wasn't to happy there. Stability was completely lost, i was having to much fun on the dry stuff so i stayed high and dry. Next time i will play with some settings and see if i can around it. The whole day i was running in "low mineralisation" setting, maybe if i switch it i can get closer to the water.

To sum it up, i had a ball digging holes at the beach

The 15000 was one of the first detectors I used on a saltwater beach. Yes it is noisy but it will still find stuff at good depth. Works well in the gold fields and capable of finding gold in fairly tough ground.
Mine found my wedding ring that I lost out in 3 feet of water at an Eden beach. Was down about 6 or 7 inches or roughly from the tip of my fingers to my wrist in the sand. Still have that machine, it saved me from being beaten up by the other half.

Yeah losing your wedding ring is a death sentence in some cases, probably in my case

It's pretty amazing that you managed to find it in sea water. I thoughtyou need specialised gear to do that. So it's safe to run under water then. That's handy.

Do you ever pull the old girl out for a spin? It's impressive what the guys at Minelab did for there first machine, though no doubt they might have bought the tech or bought out a company.

I'll be taking this out to Murrin Murrin minesite with me to fill in some spare time. Iv been using an ACE 250 a mate lent me out there and it's really quite a painful machine to deal with. Looking forward to getting out there with old girl. I reckon she will pick up a couple nuggs for me, with a bit of patience.

No she is not designed to go in the water, just use a bit of common sense, that stock coil won't handle much pressure. It was all I had at the time so I used it. Don't dunk the box in the water.
If you do put the coil in salt water be sure to give the coil and stem a good flush with fresh water when you are finished. I have not used it for a few years now but I turn it on now and again to make sure it still works and that no corrosion is setting in anywhere. It was used often in saltwater so corrosion is a real possibilty no matter how well I think I cleaned it, so far all is good.

I think Minelab took over from Liniear Electronics (spelling may be wrong) although I am not totally certain of that.

A'ss, Loosing a wedding ring makes you sweat blood I know how you must have felt, I lost mine at work and thought it was gone for ever, a few guys reckoned get the detector but it was deep excavation and we had laid copper cables in the trences anyway. So I had a frantic look all the next day with no luck, the following morning I put on my gloves and in the end of the finger was my ring yep the gloves I wore all of the previous day

I just wish that I had kept it quiet for another day or so, anyway I was able to breathe easy again and needless to say that I don't wear the ring often now.

Yeah it's funny; When you loose your wallet it pi...ses you off coz you have to go through the hassles of stopping your bank cards, applying for a new license,getting a new ID and you curse the lost cash.

If you loose your watch , then you say "stuff it I've lost me bloody watch", but when that piece of gold disappears from yer finger you break out in sweat, and say "Chr..st and sh..t where's me bloody wedding ring and then ya fear for ya life when the wife finds out , it's a whole different feeling hey.
