Has anyone used a 8" Mono Commander coil on the GPX5000 yet?
I've just bitten the bullet on Friday last and traded in the GPX 4000 for the GPX 5000. I just bought a 8" Commander mono on fleabay which hopefully arrives tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone is already using one on the 5000 and if so any issues or settings appreciated. My aim is to use it in the rocky creeks and bushy areas in the tight spots.......
In addition to both the 11'' standard Mono and DD Commanders, I also have a new unused Commander 15 x 12 Mono <and hip stick!>, & the Coiltek Goldstalker 14 x 9 Mono....so with the 8" I figure I should have most bases loaded...
All I've used thus far at highly mineralised Pink Cliffs is the 11" Commander Mono for an hour and the ground is so saturated I could not get the 5000 to settle under any settings <started with FP's and Fine Gold then Enhance etc etc,..so have not been able to give it a fair run. Also the Auto tune kept coming up at 235 would this seem normal? I even tried Bogene's settings no Threshold and maximum 20 RX gain and found some bullet shells/leads...at least it was quiet with only a sound when it went over something, but I realize I was probably missing stuff anyway...the GPX5000 <and other models I guess, although I used to be able to settle the 4000 better in wettish ground>> are unstable in saturated ground... Anyone else running the other coils with any advice to give will be appreciated...Thanks.
