Re: New Gold Pan
The package with Honda 4 stroke pump 50m of hose a sluice was $2335 the sluice alone I think is about $1300 all made of fiberglass if you type in Martin marks on goggle it will give you some reviews people have given about his gear and he is more than helpful with advise and apleasure to deal with.

New Gold Pan
$2335 You got to be kidding!
If you can use a drill and saw, make one yourself. Go to http://alluvialgprospectors.proboards.com/index.cgi
The site has plans and great info on how to make your own sluice/highbanker. You will have to join the site and make a couple of posts to access that info, but it is well worth it.
My favorite pan, besides my tin pans that you can't buy anymore........The Green Garratt.....large one about $50 from Miner's Den.
Cheers

PS: Hey Skysite, I have a used Viblans Giant Penulum for sale, a bargin at $270 and I'll throw in thicker string, glow in the dark ball, and bats for nicks.

Re: New Gold Pan
Fly
I've spent more than $2335 at the miners den when I was starting out and found I wasted a lot of money on equipment I didn't need or was not right for the area I was going from advice of people I thought new what they where talking about.
The set up I have now found me more gold in one week than I found in a year so you can keep your ball pendulum I'm quite happy with the set up I have now.

Re: New Gold Pan
Th best gold pan is the Garrett Super sluice (yes it is a pan )Is not nearly as fragile as a fibreglass pan and is dead easy to use .
Ron
Also it is much lighter than fibreglass .

Re: New Gold Pan
Hi
The Garrett super sluice pan can also be used for "dry panning" also and
comes with wet & dry panning instructions moulded into the outer bottom.
at $38 each, best pan on the market..

Re: New Gold Pan
I'll agree with Pete on the Garrett pan. They are the best there is for the beginner and a lot of very experienced blokes also use them Martin Mark's pan is also very good but more for the more experienced panner.

Re: New Gold Pan
Frog
The black pans are ok but the riffles are way to small to get the dirt thro fast
and not lose gold, the super sluice pan has the most aggresive riffles to aid fast
panning with minimal loss of gold, in fact it is just about impossible to
lose the smallest specks.
Also you could drive the TOJO over the bugger and its all good..

I agree with what a few others have already said: For a beginner who might also want to pan a bit in the future, the 15" Garrett Super Sluice would be the best choice - if you can get your hands on one. It has instructions on the rear embossed into the plastic... however, it can also be used to Dry Pan in desert conditions and sports instructions on the rear alongside the wet-washing instructions. Should retail for $40 at the Miner's Den stores (link HERE) although they might be out at the moment due to demand over Christmas. There's another VERY similar 14" pan by Estwing which is an inch smaller but very similar in design. Should do exactly the same job due to the similarity of the riffle angles.
If you're only messing around, I suppose you could use any type of pan.

Re: New Gold Pan
Have to agree with Fly , and I have tried it . Granted it will recover gold but other home-made sluices are just as effective, if not more so , and if well made will not break up when a rock drops in it as fibreglass does and believe me that WILL occure time and time again . And the price , well it speaks for itself , it is rediculous for what you get .Anyone can make one at home that is easier to use , will not break up and cost less than $100 ( just for the actual sluice )Still if you have cash to spare , go for it .
As far as finding more at HE , it's just possible that you finally found a decent area rather than the sluice
It is always better to learn from people in the field rather than from someone trying to sell a specific product (that he makes )

Re: New Gold Pan
the Garrett gravity pan has been, arguably, the definitive pan for the past 30 years!! The super sluice pan is good but Garrett should have put in the drop in the center as the did in their other pan !!

Hi Razgo,
David at Treasure Enterprises used to sell them so you could give him a try but I think he may only do mail order now.
