Yabbie pump, crevicing
Hey every, just looking at putting together a good crevicing kit, ive got a forge at home and have made 1 tool so far, a long hook type hand tool with a spoon shape on the opposite end.
I have plans to make a few more rangeing in sizes.
I have old screw drivers, spoons and small crow bars
Just wondering what size yabbie pump would be recomended? Along with any other ideas of what would be good in crevicing kit?

Re: Yabbie pump, crevicing
Just the standard size one wil do but make sure its stainless steel not one of those force 10 ones that rust out really quickly. Then fit it with some nozzles that you make up from pipe fittings. 1 inch round tip and a one inch round heated and squashed flat take care of anything i've come across so far. Another handy thing is one of those gutter cleaner scoops and a dustpan brush or a steel brush.

Re: Yabbie pump, crevicing
Hi Guys, Here is one I made from 40mm pvc. Works great.
Plus a couple of crevicing scrapers made from an old builders hand saw. Very strong, flexible & thin to get into those tight thin cracks
Clean out down to bed rock & suck out the gold from the cracks n crevices with this hand suction Gold sucker/pump.
After digging down to the bed rock & then using the main pump body with out the nosey parker gravel/gold sucker retention chamber fitted you can extract material from the stream bedrock holes & dump directly into your pan or bucket material as big as 38mm.
When down to the tiny cracks n crevices, or you spot a piece of gold jambed in a crack or sitting on the bed rock, attach the nosey parker retention chamber to the end of the pump body & simply suck the gold up. It will be drawn up inside the retention chamber & drop into it without any risk of it falling back out. If you see numerous bits of gold you can just carry on sucking them up with out having to empty each time.
You can also use it for sucking up water & then pushing down on the handle to flush out gold or stir up material in the cracks n crevices. Very handy & efficient to wash out cracks n crevices above the water line. Under water by doing this & pumping & sucking you can flush out, stir up, & suck up material before it resettles without having to stop, & with out the risk of losing anything of value as the gold being heavy will drop to the bottom of the chamber & stay there. When you have thoroughly cleaned out the cracks n crevices or think the retention chamber is full or close to full, you twist & slip it off & dump the concerntrates into your pan for processing.
This sucker pump body is 40mm inside diameter & 450mm long so will easily fit into your back pack . The Retention chamber body is 100mm long & the spout is 130mm long to reach into those cracks n crevices.
