gpx 6000 battey life
hi guys,my 6000is 3yo now but the batteries are only lasting approx3hrs,spoke to minelab about this, their answer was to clean the contacts on the batteries, did that but no better at all,my question is has anyone been able to repack their battery pack at all or would know of somewhere reputable that could do it.not real happy about having to outlay a considerable amount of money to get more batteries ,cheers allan

That is rather poor performance from the battery. I have been using the same 7000 battery since purchase in 2015. I thank my lucky stars and hope I haven't jinxed it.
However, not all batteries are created equal and you may have one bad cell in the casing.
Regards Axtyr.

thnx guys i have been in contact with both minelab, their answer was to clean the contacts, didnt change a thing, and the guys from detectronics have never pulled a battery apart either,so back to square one,a pretty poor effort on minelabs behalf on a battery pack that costs $250.00 bucks to buy in the first place,my old 4500 battery is still going strong and its over 10 years old

Re: gpx 6000 battey life
Lithium batteries can suffer from a phenomenon known as "voltage sag," when the battery's voltage drops suddenly during use. Factors like temperature, age, and design, can cause this. One downside to lithium batteries is that they can develop a "memory." This means the battery will not be able to hold a charge over time. If your lithium battery has developed a memory, there are some tips you can do to fix it. First, try charging the battery before using it. This will help to "reset" the battery's memory. Next, you can try discharging the battery entirely and recharging it if that doesn't work. This process may need to be repeated a few times before the battery's memory is completely reset.
This "Memory Effect" is not the same as what can occur with NiCad batteries.

Found this info may help. The batteries are 42wh even though it says <100wh

Our batteries have lasted for 2.5/3 years and still going strong after hundreds of recharges.Never had to clean the terminals.Did your battery happen to over discharge or could it have been left in the heat perhaps at any point because it is quite rare to have issues.
If you can't get hold of mechanic pm me.
