Koss UR 30 repairs
I’ve got a couple of Koss UR 30 headphones that I suspect have got breaks in the leads near where it enters the headset.I assume that’s the problem as the sound comes and goes when you wiggle the lead.Have broken 2 this year using the Gpz , even though I plug the headphones into the WM12 which I have attached to the harness near my right shoulder. I have broken them before when using the 4500 so am careful not to swing on and twist the cables.Frustrating that they are so easily broken ,the leads are fairly fragile. Is there anyone out there who does repairs?

cheap to buy if ya know where to look.
ive scene them so cheap on ebay not worth repairing sometimes ,but if you buy 300 ohm drivers and put in a new cord their better than original ,just a pain as the small screws are hard to get back in unless you find some longer ones like i did .i wire mine up mono with 300 ohm drivers i run them on a 4500 .

Crap headphones to start with. Throw them in the bin and get some decent ones.

Re: Koss UR 30 repairs
Ended up sending headphones to Geoff at VKTEK Solutions.
He replaced the leads with a heavier cable which should outlast the originals.
Ended up with 2 sets of headphones for less cost than a new set
Thanks Geoff

Re: Koss UR 30 repairs
I have found the Koss headphones heavy and uncomfortable. They have a tendency to fall off your head when you bend down to dig a target and cabled headphones are a thing of the past. I favour the Bauhn (Aldi) active noise cancelling phones which have a plug port, enabling the use of Quest Mate WiFi system. This enables you to utilize the small, light weight Tx unit in the battery pouch of SD through to GPX5000 detectors and the Rx unit then can be placed in a top pocket or clipped onto your jacket or shirt with a short cable from Rx to the rechargeable headphones. The Rx is also small and light with both Tx and Rx being rechargeable. The Bauhn phones are light and comfortable as well as being much cheaper than most other alternatives, plus you can use them with or without the n/c function.
My other favourites are the Bose n/c ear buds which are fabulous, but expensive. They too can be used with the Quest system.

Re: Koss UR 30 repairs
Reg,
Thanks for the info on the headphones.
I agree the Koss ur30’s are pretty flimsy and do tend to fall off when you lean forward

Re: Koss UR 30 repairs
The only problem with the Bauhn headphones is that they only come up at Aldi about twice a year, but occasionally do appear on sites like Marketplace or Ebay. There have been a couple of updated versions of these phones, but all have been good on a detector. Keep your eye on the Aldi catalogue.

Re: Koss UR 30 repairs
I second the Bauhn wireless headphones that Reg suggested. Very clear sound & mine were bought second hand in fantastic condition.
