Hi Guf
Looks like a clamp on Ferrite Balun.Maybe someone put it on for some type of noise/emi suppression.Ive seen these on jumper leads and power cords to reduce spikes/surges/Rfi etc.I think there are a couple already inside the detector control box on the coil connections.
