3500 model for around $ 3500
4000 model for around $ 4000
Sounds fair to me even if there is an extra coil or two thrown in...even better....

Re: gpx 4000
thanks HueyDuck
went out today with a mate the sd 2000 played up again, was 2 hrs before i got it working again...while i was trying to fix it my mate found 3 bits of gold god dam..i pushed down on the back cover plate where a screw is and started working...not sure why that is. i'v got it down pat with the sd with ground balance and that. but there bringin out a new model this year and there not going to do trade-ins after it comes out (sd models) coz there getting hard to find parts for...as a dealer ship told me. so might as well update before that happens...

Re: gpx 4000
So there is gold over there you must've been in a different spot to where we went!
Shame about the detector playing up again. Why not go the better machine while you can I say.
Cheers

Re: gpx 4000
I might sell my 4000 soon but i would send it off to minelab before i do, to get a clean bill of health ect, i found a small nugget right next too a dig hole last week with the 11 inch coiltech dd the coil ive found most gold with, more than the 14 inch mono and much more than the 18 inch mono, the dd seems to kick arse over the monos, because in the 4000 and 4500 you use the dd's in normal timings and up the gain abit, i cant explain it but dd pulls the good stuff over and over again whilst mono's have been a huge disapointment it may be just me but again ive used mono for say 6 months for maybe 6 nuggets and used the stock dd for 6 months and 15 nuggets and im happy to keep the dd on now because it produces the goods.

Re: gpx 4000
stoppsy hi
once you have all the settings worked out you will find the 4000 a terrific machine to use.for a mono coil , sensative on the front panel, smooth on the rear panel, gain somewhere between about 6 and 15 depending on ground conditions and listen for those wisper quiet targets. (if anybody else has settings they like,i`m allways keen to learn). i love using my old coiltek round 11" mono. my better half likes using the minelab 8" round mono

Re: gpx 4000
I like the setting for tone- 32 for men, 50 for women.
That setting (50) sounds like it might be a bit high and wingy and whiny !!
Ferris.

Not a bad little nug stoppsy.
A workmate rang me today and he found a nice 14g nug on the weekend, he says 100 yards away from him another prospector pulled out a 2 ouncer!
I would take notice of the link that Ararat put up. At the Laancoorie weekend last year that this forum put together. He set up a few machines there. Nice!!!!
Cheers
