One things for certain, it will always be the relevant governing authorities in charge of such matters, that just about always have the upper hand when it comes to decision making. But in saying that, if you or anyone else on here has a far more better way of getting our message through to the point where useful action is taken in way of opening up more ground for the prospector/detectorist (like were said before) then we're all ears, lets hear it.

There's only one answer Kon.
The present govt in Vic is opposed to exploration, that's the fact. We all have a vote..Like it or not.

Re: More of our Bush getting closed
Approval to mine is one thing, viability in way of mining of inground precious minerals/metals is another. If the profits of such ventures, seem to far exceed the overall outlay of equipment/wages & upfront government deposits/guarantees etc, you can bet, little will stand in the way of a major mining company, from achieving their goal.
Butch, agree, we all do have a vote, as long as that vote, does not come down to voting between the frying pan, or the fire.
So much s**t happens between governing heads of authority & mining corporates behind closed doors today (involving that almighty $buck), that us mushrooms kept in the dark, never get to see the light of day.
Reg, what happened back then in the early 70s truly were a major win/feat in itself, but it were done with a whole lot/bunch of united people support, coming from minor/major lobbying bodies of that time.
You'll find over the last 40 odd years or so, the governing powers of politics, have made sure, we are not as united to stand as one with each other today, as we were back then. None the less, no one should ever give up fighting for a just cause, for the benefit of us all.
Here we go again, looks like another looming lockdown, is set for Victoria as well.
Cheers Kon.

Re: More of our Bush getting closed
The mob that saved the Franklin ( The Greens ) are the same mob that are trying to close down the bush.
It's got nothing to do with the Franklin or the bush it's all about politics. Remember Adani... Adani won in the end, the same thing has to happen here.

I don't think the mob of people who protested at franklin considered themselves part of a political party.
In my opinion they were a bunch of people who did not want a pristine river system turned into a hydro electric dam.
It may have been the beginnings of a political movement?
Their protests were very affective because a couple of hundred people could block a narrow river and stop any works that needed to be done?
It was a concentrated effort in a small area that eventually got fantastic media coverage.
Relate that to the VEAC decision about the national parks is difficult, a couple of hundred people trying to block several forested areas around the state would be futile.
Maybe a hundred nude prospectors protesting holding their beep sticks may draw some media coverage

Bob Brown led the Franklin protests and also drove a convoy to Queensland to protest against Adani.
Do us all a favor mate and vote informal next time.

Re: More of our Bush getting closed
Well, aren't we the lucky ones to have the freedom of voicing our own opinions. If all this talk were to take place in China or North Korea, we'd be protesting at one another from within our own cell blocks Lets try to stay calm here fellas. Trying to sought out the right from wrong in politics, can be more slippery than a freshly caught eel
