Havn't been that far north myself, take a look at the link to Peter's web page you will find plenty of information there. May I suggest to you a visit to the DOIR website and look up Tengraph you will find all the info you require there.

Karratha WA prospecting Empty Information Site

Post  M2260 Sun Jan 25, 2009 8:25 am

G.day Mate

try this link, I use the site all the time, most informative to find information on prospective areas. I normally use it as a first stop, I'm not sure if WA has a similar system to nsw DIGS which will further drill down information, right down to things such EL's and reports lodged oin each EL

Hope it provides some information. How long you going for? was contemplating heads that way myself this year. Just modifing the vehicle and testing it at the moment.

Regards

John

Woops must have been blonde in a previous life, not mention my typing, sorry

this one is good for general Australia http://www.ga.gov.au/

This one is good for nsw, entrance for DIGS and Minview, very very good http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/minerals

This one takes some time, best surfed in the off hours cause the custom mapping module takes time and you'll want all the bandwidth you can get your hands on http://www.australianminesatlas.gov.au/index.jsp.

Hope you find all you need, if you get there before me, let me know how you go, more then interested.

I have just spent 6 months working in Karratha and checking out the loacal Gold detecting prospects. Firstly Roebourne has a history of gold. BUT not a lot was found. On both sides of the main road from Karratha to Roebourne there are several large quartz blows. I didnt get the chance to detect them, and at the time was all detected out after spending 4 months up around Wiluna, Sandstone Mount Magnet etc.

I would drive past these blows at least once a week and had the feeling that it would be well worth having a look. Nevertheless I didnt.

Whim creek also has a history of gold being found. Its a pretty isolated area but does have a gereat little outback pub. Very Happy Very Happy

Apart from this info. I cant give you any other information.
