Hi Bfloyd,that smoke haze is a real downer,I/we know the feeling over here too,day after day [some places weeks ] of poor visibility and stink.
It will end though ,just got to keep sane waiting for that wind change.

I often wore a P-100 3m 7000 half face respirator when out for awhile and the filters clogged fairly fast. Much better air quality now no rain in the whole western USA. The East is getting tons of rain hurricanes flooding but hardly a drop for us. I hope your right and it changes soon. Life as we know it ended with covid 19's arrival which also coincided with the fires which have not stopped more each day. A normal year we would have had rain by now and snow up high.
chuckle...I've been baking bread today i made cinnamon rolls...tasty but i need to get fences built and my barn fixed. Would like to get out and find a small nugget maybe one two pounds, or small stuff like these on display in my bank. Cant seem to upload will have to try later

Was nice to catch up with a fellow forum member Axtyr.
Scored a .5gm [left] on friday while out with him and .4 yesterday
Today's detecting is looking doubtful as a storm front rolls in ,great example of mammatus cloud or mammary clouds.

One of the many good things about detecting is that you can find treasure if you look up too.

I'm still amazed with the 5000 and 14 " elite coil ,here's a tiddler that didn't register a weight,guessing <0.1gm
Its measured depth was 8.5 inches or 22cm through thick leaf litter and into pipe clay.
You know that you're not missing too much.

Another catch up with Axtar this morning in the hills of castlemaine.,great morning for a wander.
I managed to snag a mineralized quartz speci with 3 small bits totalling 1.7 with some fine gold leftovers,pinged a 0.2gm as well.

Yes, and I detected in the area after Moredeep left and got a great signal right next to where he had dug.
Another rusty nail head. The important thing is that you missed it!!!!!

Pinged a little 0.4 gmer today.
Above the spot where I got it was a unfilled hole,I thought it was karma at it's best.
The A hole missed this one  .

Last outing for the year,caught up with Axtyr for a scratch today,two bits for 1.5gms [2 at bottom of first pic]
And alas another deep rusty nugget about 3 meters from the other two,damm you  
Overall it's been a very memorable year.I hope you enjoyed my little tiddler journey
