1930 Australian Penny
What is a 1930 Aust penny in crap condition worth these days?....Not much I think.
Collectors only want near on uncirculated condition.
Met a chap detecting at Pine Island yesterday who said he found a 1930 penny in poor condition not far up the river from where we were and has sent it away for assessment. I wished him good luck while inwardly grumbling that I had missed it and considering that I have detected every sq mm of river bank between Pine island and the Cotter dam with all of my you beaut tectas over the past 25 years. Think I will chuck em all in the bin, the traitorous mongrels.
Nah just kidding. I have found a great many coins both decimal and pre decimal along that section of river. So cannot complain.

Re: 1930 Australian Penny
Ah the holy grail Adrian,I have 2 complete penny sets minus the 1930 penny.
My father in law made billiard tables back in the 50,s and 60's and went round to various places to collect the takings and do some repairs.
He noticed a 30 penny amongst the takings and asked the shop owner to keep it safe until he finished repairing a table,he went back to collect it and another worker gave it away in change
Such is life.

Re: 1930 Australian Penny
It's a real pity. That coin looks like it has been dropped soon after ownership.
Although it is badly corroded, all the lettering looks perfect, not worn, as well as every other aspect of the coin. If it wasn't for the corrosion it would be in uncirculated condition.
It should still fetch several thousand dollars.
Regards Axtyr.
