The Laanecoorie Bash
I know there is a section under 'general' for the Laanecoorie Bash, but as some folk don't bother to check the 'general' section, let me remind all of you tight fisted, deep pocketed, " I have other commitments", so called prospectors, that there is a good cause that you could blow the moths out of your wallet for on this coming weekend.
There will be lots of interesting products on display, and for sale, plus auctions and raffles of some top gear, but the most important factor is that this is a fund raiser for cancer research, and a way of showing that Jim Stewart will be remembered for the top bloke and competent prospector that he was.
The caravan park is a great venue, and although all powered sites are booked there will still be plenty of space down by the lake, or you can camp in the nearby bush. Plenty of food will be available, and it's a great spot to have a few beers after dark and chat to folks that share your interests.
See you there.

Re: The Laanecoorie Bash
Reg the caravan parks is completely booked out. Including the non-powered sites. They are not taking any more booking at all. Closed off a few days ago. So it will be out in the bush or try and get a spot at the Laanecoorie bridge camping area on the Loddon River..

Re: The Laanecoorie Bash
Reg last year I think they (caravan park) turned people back as well. But don't hold to that, but that was what I was informed by others.

Re: The Laanecoorie Bash
Hi Yellowmellow
The park was well and truly a sell out for accommodation again this year, with well over 635 registrations over the weekend. And I think just on the auction alone, (that had over 80 items) they broke their record of items sold.
What I heard it could be about $25,000 The final figure raised is not known as yet. But I'm sure it will either go very close to the $40,000 mark or even pass it.

Re: The Laanecoorie Bash
It is now official. The 2019 Laanecoorie Gold Bash this year raised $51,012.35 for Peter MacCullum Cancer Research. Well done to the organisers, committee, donors, stall holder and to everyone who participated in this year's bash. A special thanks to the Laanecoorie Lakeside Park for their full support of the bash since 2011.
Well done to you all.

Re: The Laanecoorie Bash
Wow what a weekend it was, even better that so much money was raised for the Peter Mac. I was kept so busy on Saturday melting heaps of gold, I estimate between 1.5 to 2 kgs of gold that I melted, that's a lot of gold. I had a Hobo'sGold gold furnace in the auction which raised $550 for the Peter Mac. I was very busy going the Gympie QLD for the Metal Detecting World Championship the weekend before, as a sponsor so over the 2 weekends I traveled over 4200 Ks.
Re: The Laanecoorie Bash
I have never been to the Laanecoorie Bash but congratulations to everyone involved that is a tremendous amount of money to raise for a very good cause.
