other metals that sound same as gold

hi what metals or targets sound the same or similar to gold I feel lead is pretty close so what about say bits of steel and small nails please let me know thanks tim yellowmellow

Hi Tim, sometimes I think I can pick a junk target, but I still dig everything. So things like alfoil, lead bullets, copper cartridges, nails etc all get dug up . cheers Pete.

As Pete stated, copper, brass, lead, aluminium, tin, nails, steel etc, etc,  pretty much all sound the same, especially at depth Tim. The only way, you are ever going to know for certain, is to dig them up. Just when one thinks they know what the target response most likely be, surprise, surprise, it aint.
If in doubt, dig it out.

Hi Tim, I've found that gold sounds like lead, tin sounds like brass, iron sounds like copper, they all sound like a hot rock and most sound like each other. On the other hand they all look very different and the only way to see them is to dig them up!

hi yellowmellow,it is indeed tricky what you are asking,i saw you asked the same question on the PA forum and got roughly the same answers.
I think its a case of;if you're struggling with the detector and it's variations then maybe seek some professional advice and get some lessons.
I had lots of lessons when i first got the gpx,it helped a lot .

Its nice to have a guess before you dig but silly not to dig every signal.

All metals except Iron/Steel sounds like gold when in the ground a bit. However a large nugget sounds like a large bit of Iron/Steel. All I can say is leave those large Iron/Steel signals alone and I will dig them up later.
