"Small" win with the SDC
G'day folks,
Spent a few days with my sister and hubby up in Bendigo,so it gave me the chance for a scratch around in the triangle.
I went to a spot that I've checked out before, where i'd got a few bits with the 4500.
Had the SDC with me,fitted with a new Coiltek 14x9,and up until this trip I've been a little unconvinced that these new coils really make the SDC a better machine, but hey..this game's all about patience and persistence
Anyway,i thought there might just be something still lurking that the 4500 missed..and I managed to snare a couple of tiny, reefy looking bits
The second bit was a good four to five inches down, and having the sensitivity all the way down on 1,while using headphones, helped me pick up the faintest of murmurs..total weight for both 0.47g
Cheers...Dave

Its those faint signals we're all but left listening for in today's times Dave, but as long as they pop up every now & then, puts a smile on our dial. Well done.
Cheers Kon.

Thanks Kon..Yeah,it's funny how we need to have good hearing to be able to pick up those faint signals, but our hearing seems to deteriorate as we get older

Nice one mate. And a good advert for the new coils as well.

Thanks Wombat, more time on the ground will determine how good these coils are I guess.
It gets a second chance for now

Re: "Small" win with the SDC
Well done Dave!
I have an SDC and was of the understanding that the higher the sensitivity the better it will detect deeper smaller tagets. Have I been doing it all wrong? I almost always run mine on 5 or at the very least 4 and have found plenty of fly Shite up to 1 gram with it.
Adrian.

G'day Adrian,
Thanks mate..there is no right way or wrong way as long as it works I guess
I too have picked up tiny bits with the sensitivity up on 4 and even 5,but I think it comes down to how good you're hearing the targets on the day
If i'm scouring the old timers mullock heaps,i'll crank up the sensitivity, and the SDC will be warbling it's head off,but ninety percent of targets that I find will be just a scrape or two deep,so they're easy to hear.
If i'm away from the diggings,i want my threshold to be as smooth as it can be,so i'll decrease the sens to be able to hear the faint ones that might be right on the limit of the SDC's capability.
Cheers...Dave
