Off Topic Uber Flying Cars

So Uber reckon they will have electric flying cars in Australia (Melbourne) Next year....That will work well until the first one crashes in the city.
Do the drivers have to be fully licensed pilots? Will they be limited to daylight hours?
Bloody drones are noisy enough; imagine how much noisier the props on a flying car will be

I recall as a kid way way back when a flying car was produced. It ended up exactly how you would imagine it to end up...On the scrap heap.
Then of course there was the amphibious car.....Don't see many of those around these days aye?

On the side of optimism think of how quickly we could reach our remote detecting spots with a vehicle like that,maybe even find that virgin patch where no coil has been before.

Yer would at least need an Unrestricted Private Pilots license if ya wanted to go bush in one of those contraptions.
I think Somebody is trying to turn the world into one of those dip stick Si Fi movies where we are all travelling along radio frequency highways.

Adrian, the things we take for granted these days were all science fiction less than a hundred years ago. You are showing your age.

I wouldn't worry to much about flying cars here fellas. The way the economy is heading at the moment, there'd be few passengers that can afford to board them. There's no way known we can avoid heading into a recession. The only difference being, is that this one will be more longer lasting/painful than the recession of the early 90's "the recession that we had to have". Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I can only see doom & gloom over the next few years. Brace yourselves, the storm is coming.

Can't you start off with something small, like a few cans of mild tear gas?  Pray that we never see such an occurrence of  mass extinction, for that's exactly what it will be, a non stop chain reaction between nations, with devastating effects on all forms of life.

So now a couple of oil tankers have been torpedoed by Iran (Possibly) and so our oil and petrol prices are set to increase as a result of this. Sounds knee jerk to me.
If we have so little oil why are we exporting the stuff??

I am hopeful that there will be no recession as that would hurt too many people both young and old. I prefer a more optimistic future where our governments can finally style down and discard perpetual growth for a better system where growth plays no part, either economic or population.

Now yer talking, although it is possible to have great economic growth without over population growth when you have a country with the natural resorces that Australia has got. The key being to own it and control it ourselves and to not flog or lease our land off to overseas countries.
There is no reason why this country cannot be as self sufficient and economically strong as it once was.

Does anybody remember when we used to produce ships trains cars iron and steel, coal copper silver, aluminium and wheat and wool etc??
What did our dip stick numb nuts do with our merino sheep (the best wool on the planet); they sold some live merinos to china and now China has a stronger wool industry that what we once had control off. Hell we are struggling to even find enough shearers for the sheep that we have. The sooks of today cannot handle the hard work in the sheds or don't want to get their hands a bit dirty.

Adrian, let it go m8. This thread (although off topic) started off with Uber flying cars, to now searching for quality sheep shearers. Like the gold finds of today, the good old days have gone & gone for good. The only shearing/crutching going on today, is by the politicians on the average tax payer.

I don't think that cars will fly very high. I think that they will fly 2-3 m. above the earth, but it won't be in the nearest future.

Can you imagine the up and coming generation of mentally feeble dip sticks being in control of a flying car Ye Gods and little fishes! they are not capable maintaining stability of cars today and are responsible for most motor accidents. Blimey, put them in control of flying cars and the police will really have a battle on their hands, not to mention the rest of us more sensible drivers simply trying to stay alive in amongst these nutter  iced up fruit cakes.
  There is a big enough problem with these numb nut hoods driving into people's front yards and bedrooms. How much worse when they start falling out of the sky onto road traffic.
