Re: Gp 3000 vs sd2000
G'day terraform
In my opinion (from past experiences) both detectors performed admirably over gold nuggets in their time, with the SD 2000 achieving great depths over the larger slugs of gold which happened to exist back then. The GP3000 produced pretty much the same depth over the larger multi-gram type gold, but with a depth advantage over that of the SD series on the gram/sub gram type gold.
There's not to many a large slug of gold left to be found today (within reach of current hand held metal detectors, in/over known/renowned gold fields) but more so in the odd small bits of gold left behind, still awaiting to be uncovered. This is where the later model GP 3000, will have the advantage in locating the gram/sub-gram gold better, than the older model SD 2000 detector could.
Personally & being new to metal detecting, (being the times that they are today & same in price wise) I'd always go with the later model detector than older model, for the reasons stated above.
Cheers Kon.
