just got a first detector GP3000
Got gp 3000 with 11'' comander dd coil.
Have watched the instruction video.
Now few questions:
What is the best coil to use in combination with this unit?
Is is handy to have 8" coil?
Is this good enough to start?
Will have a first use in Laancoorie on weekend.Quite excited.
Might need help of some experienced users to help me with settings and share few tips.
Thanks.

Just got a first detector GP3000
Congratulations Golden You have a great machine there in the GP3000 it is still a very capable machine and proven gold finder..This is the detector that started me finding gold back in 2005 and i had tried a SD2200 before that, but the GP3000 with its beautifully smooth audio threshold won the gold for me...I bought it new but sadly sold it after 3 months..(driving up from Melbourne and new work commitments put prospecting on hold....but not any more )
I think a Coiltek 14 inch round DD...especially the Elite model will be a killer combination for most sized gold on the 3000..Oh yeah i found 12 grams with it back then in that short period...6 grams in smalls and a 6 gram nugget at 12 inches depth...At that time i had on a Coiltek 17x11DD elliptical,a great coil too..
Enjoy your new machine Golden
Cheers Eureka Dreams
PS..Goldbait`s link was tops too.

Re: just got a first detector GP3000
I used to run a tan coloured 14inch Coiltek mono on the 3000 and found it to be a great combination. Found heaps of nuggs with it from sub grammers up to multi ounce. Dug some very deep nuggets with it too!!
If you got one with a smooth threshold running the mono's will be much easier.

Re: just got a first detector GP3000
G'day, I just got my first detector 3 weeks ago, a gp 3000 also. I found my first bit of gold (.7 of a gram) just out the bush behind my house. Like the other guys said, that DVD is really good and goes over settings for the gp 3000 and you get to see some good gold come out of the ground. Very thrilling to sit and watch this DVD knowing you have the same detector and seeing what it's capable of. The cooee nugget at the end is a ripper. Cheers and good luck......

Re: just got a first detector GP3000
Hi All
Would have to agree this DVD is the definitive guide on getting the most out of probably the best no nonsense detector ever made.As well as being very informative JP's relaxed Aussie style makes easy to watch.

hi all
looking at buying a 2nd hand 3000 for about 2800 bucks for up around flat ck near georgetown.
couple of questions
is it possible to get enough charge by just using dual battery system setup on 4wd? or do i really need a genset
what coils could anyone recommend for this area
any tips on set up of machine
thanks

Re: just got a first detector GP3000
Mick
With twin batterys on a 4wd youve got heaps of charging power. If you can Isolate and charge from your second battery that way you will never get caught. You can get my 3000 settings from the setting post by blackadder on this page.If the ground is quiet an 11 or 14'' round mono, mini ufo mono or 14x9 mono will do a good job.If the ground is noisey 11 or 14'' dd
I dont know how many times you could charge your detector from 1 fully charged battery.email qldsandy thru this site hes a sparky and could tell you.
Cheers Dig
I normally run the car for 20 mins every second day if its been stationaryThat charging 2 detector batteries daily.
