Gday folks
My 7yo has been asking if we can get a metal detector to find ‘treasure’ she’s particularly interested in finding gold nuggets, coins and jewellery! But I’m sure old relics would be well received. Were located in Perth so likely to go weekend hunting along the beaches, forests or up in the hills. Camping hols north and south also.
Ive been reading some detector reviews (Steve Herschbach) And the Minelab 1000 or Fisher F75+ appear at similar price points (circa $1050) and get good review value for simplicity, and functionality. Would either of these units be suitable for want I’m looking to do? Or would others be better suited? Would a secondhand more expensive unit be a better option?
Cheers

Re: Gday folks
Hi Mark
I've noticed some 2nd hand X-Terra 705's going cheap lately around $500 maybe great all rounder to get started. You need something that is sensitive enough for gold on the beaches. The old GT sovereign is also good value and easy to use.You need something fairly light for your daughter.
The dedicated gold machines are not suitable for relics or beaches as too sensitive particularly if your learning the hobby.

Re: Gday folks
Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve found a brand new 705 with bonus gold coil and carry bag for $629. For a bit extra the are quite a few 2nd hand eqinox800 for around $950-1000 neg. Is it worth paying extra for the 800?

Re: Gday folks
Yes I was going to mention the Equinox 800 as they have excellent feedback and would be in your price range.
