G'day All,

I have been floating around the forums for a while checking out all the info and reading the great prospecting tales.
So now it's time to put my tuppence worth in and say g'day.
I have been a detectorist for about a year and a half now, previous to that I was doing a fair bit of sluicing around the traps.
Due to the backbreaking work with the sluicing, I decided on a detector instead. Very Happy I am sure all you sluicers know where I am coming from!
I get out pretty much every weekend, but so far no luck on any coloured stuff. It has pretty much been the usual array of items: buttons, bullets, casings, lead shot.
I have picked up a couple of old coins, though, which has made it all worthwhile. All this has helped me towards getting targets out quickly and moving on, which is the name of the game.
One of these days I will pick the right spot, I am sure. I know you have to be resilient in this game, that's for sure.
I figure it's a bonus if i pick up a nugget; I just love getting out bush- it's good for the soul I reckon Very Happy .

I have a couple of funny stories, but won't put them up in this introduction post.
I am always keen to get out in a group, and am eager to get on the Laanecoorie trip this year. Finger's x'd.

Catch u all soon and good luck out in the field.

Hi Cujimmy,
Welcome to the forum.
I been detecting as long as you are.I was fortunate to start with a few experienced forum members who took me under their wing.
Learn heaps and still enjoy doing regular trips with few of them.

What type of Detector you have?
Did you do any training?
As you are finding bullets and the rest its just matter of time to walk over gold. You might done that already so pay attention on any change in a threshold and any faint signals and investigate them.
Go slow and low and dig everything.

Good Luck.
GoldEN

Thanks for the welcome Mike and Golden,

Yeah I have a GPX5000 with the stock standard gear, the one exception is my Nugget Finder 12x7 coil, which I love.
A while back I did some training with Pete up at MD in Bendigo, and with Russell Miller up in Talbot for the Minelabs day.
I learned a load of stuff from both fellas as they are both "old hands" in the business. Without those training sessions I would be floundering.
I generally dig everything these days as I have found a few old coins that all sounded like trash. Some gold sovereigns would be nice though! Smile
I generally get around a fair bit, but spend most of my time in Beaufort and Talbot areas - I have a good feeling about 'em.
I'm always interested in getting out weekends and look forward to perhaps hooking up with some other folks.
Will take it easy, and time will bring me what I'm after, eh.
Cheers

CuJimmy.
