Write A Book About Metal detecting?"?
I have been thinking of writing a book about my metal detecting and gold fossicking days since 1960.
What do you reckon? Has the horse bolted and the gate been shut?
The market is small and I am not so sure any more that there would be enough interest.
Maybe just a hundred or so copies and charge a thousand bucks per copy.

You could set it up as an E-book . This will save the cost of printing and postage . I have bought one or two E-books , downloaded them and printed them out . You will have to promote it as much as possible .
Perhaps sell it to GGT mag . , as a serial , 2 pages per month ?

Hey Adrian,
I think I'd enjoy reading your book. I always enjoy reading of peoples experiences, particularly in the Gold, Gem & Treasure areas.
........Even if it doesn't sell well, it'll keep you from getting bored while you recover from your surgery.
....... Alternatively, perhaps you could sell it to GG&T in a serialised format. (bugger, didn't read Minermikes previous suggestion)

You could write and burn it to CD. That doesn't cost much at all. Even postage is only around $2.00 I sold heaps of my GOLD CD's that way.
Cheers, and good luck, Jim

That maybe so but they are too expensive to be putting a book on. And most people still have a CD player on their computer.

Not me , this newer Apple Mac does not have one . I suppose I could play it on my old Mac , had to up date as it did not have enough grunt to run Google Chrome !

Re: Write A Book About Metal detecting?"?
Adrian, even as a small paper back it would be a great move. Having written several books apart from the GOLD series I find my family loved them, although only two were published and made money. My kids, and grandies all have a copy of each book and love them. I printed copies of each book on my own standard ink jet printer and it worked well.
Writing a book can be a lot of fun but it also takes self discipline and dedication. Having said that my first book, Xiang and the New Gold Mountain was so much fun I used to wake up in the morning and wonder what my two mates (the two main characters) would get up to today. It was a historic fiction novel so I had a lot of latitude.
One of the first rules of writing is to write about what you know, and I'm sure you know your subject very well.
Good luck, and above all have fun.
Cheers Jim
