Big Brother Coming After Us
Interestingly this morning I heard on radio about a plan by the Feds to shortly introduce and make it illegal for anyone to hold over $10,000 in cash, they would also need to have proof of how it was accumulated. Also it was mentioned that the $100 note will be withdrawn. It appears that Governments around the world are moving towards a cashless system.
If true it does not surprise me. I can not believe how many people, including some so called financial experts, seem to think that a cashless system would not be a problem. Can’t people see how much control Governments will have if we just have an electronic account in a bank. In severe financial times they can apply any restrictions they wish, eg, daily payment limits or bail out provisions for banks using our money. No doubt they could still do the same with cash, however at least you would have the chance to hide some under the mattress with your yellow

Re: Big Brother Coming After Us
Find yourself a copy of "Nineteen Eighty Four - 1984"
1984, is a dystopian novel published back in 1949 written by English author George Orwell.
The novel 1984 describes when most of the worlds population have become victims of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance and public manipulation.
Fast forward to 2018 and much of what is in this book is reality today, can we blame George Orwell for planting the seed in world leaders minds?

Re: Big Brother Coming After Us
hi macrob,google,"india removes large notes"
they banned large denomination notes basically over night in india, you could exchange large notes at a bank but people wanting to cash in thousands or millions of rupees in large notes would
stand out and then be under investigation for crime or black-market dealings.
So if you have many thousand of dollars in 100 dollar notes under your mattress cash them in now!!
cheers moredeep

Re: Big Brother Coming After Us
Even right now, the police in NSW are arresting people for carrying too much cash and then confiscating it. And it's WELL below the 10K mark. One of those exploitative Cops style Aussie TV shows showed police arresting a guy after they found several hundred dollars on him. Too much cash means you must be a criminal. If you receive money or pay these days, it's rarely in the form of cash-in-hand. It goes into your bank account. When I'm asked to bank company cash from any business, I now have to bring a driver's license with me or they won't bank it if the amount is over $10K. That rule has been in place for over a decade or two I think. It's supposed to stop money laundering. My advice to anyone wanting to carry more than $1K in cash on them is to carry the withdrawl receipt with it. If you can show that it came out of your bank account you should be covered.
Last month it was revealed that anyone sending their DNA to places like Ancestry.com were in for an unpleasant surprise when the media revealed that the Israeli labs doing the DNA testing were selling the data to private insurance companies. Those insurance companies were then rejecting people based on their health liability.
George Orwell would be rolling in his grave if he could see these security cameras outside of his home.
George Orwell used to warn us about a dystopian future where "Big Brother" was watching everyone through hidden cameras and hidden microphones. I had a conversation with an ex in my car last week and she insisted that we turn off our mobile phones in case certain words in our conversation triggered a response. She uses Samsung phones and those were revealed to transmit entire conversations to China via spyware. People buying Google's new Alexa device were mortified to find their private family conversations were being broadcast to other people's homes. It's a nightmare. I just came from a visit to Woolongong where there were so many street cameras (for "security reasons") clustered around the streets. Parramatta has the same problem. I stood on the corner of Church Street and Victoria Road and counted no less than 12 CCT cameras on one side of the road. If crime is so bad, why don't we have more police to deter it? The bottom line is that council would rather pay their traffic officers to ticket vehicles so they can be assured of income. And police have quotas to fulfill. Quotas that that police commanders once pretended didn't exist because it undermined public perception ... but now admit are a requirement. When people stop committing parking violations, the councils lose their income... so they introduce changes to existing laws or add new laws to ensure a continued cash flow.
Cameras in a street in Woolongong that I came across last month.
When automatic self-driving cars become the norm, insurance companies will crumble since drivers will no longer be at fault - and the police and government have become so dependent on the cashflow from road and traffic offenses that they'll need to either find a new income or start creating new offenses. The MyGov and MyHealth sites are designed to cross-check everything and to reveal ebayers making an income while receiving financial assistance... and to check on people using flyby points that shouldn't be able to accrue them on their income (I recently of someone arrested and changed in NSW for their flyby points which were being watched by Centerlink).
Without wanting to add to the mercury fumes here, I think its worth considering how this is just the beginning. As governments get a taste for data and sharing information, people will eventually suffer without privacy. The CD-Rom's circulated among the criminal gangs hacking into the My Health site and Medicare are worth TEN of THOUSANDS of dollars per disk to the criminals seeking this information and data. A young woman recently sued the NSW police force after it was discovered that over two dozen officers had broken the law for looking up her personal information, revealed only when the officers were stood down. Late last year a criminal syndicate here was caught with a spy in Medicare who was feeding confidential patient data to thee difference criminals who used that data to target their victims via identity theft and breakins. This method was used back in the 1980s when VCRs were expensive... and Blockbuster was robbed one night just to procure the data from the database showing who had VCRs, thus enabling a hit-list for breakins.
I was recently "randomly" selected by the government to be reviewed by the Census bureau on a subject that had nothing to do with me... on the subject of local health services in my district. They came to my home and threatened to fine me $1200 per day perpetually until I complied and that they would have a magistrate force me to comply if I refused. Worse still, they insisted on conducting the interview in my home and cautioned me that I should not attempt to record the interaction. I was warned that if I ended up failing to answer any questions or if I gave false information that I would be committing an offense. In the end, they determined within 15 minutes of the interview that we had no useful information to offer them for their records and left. But the threats they offered were real. You can see why Census staff are at high risk when coming to people's homes. I played their silly game out of sheer curiosity but the fact that the Government can come to your home and seek you out (with an unlimited budget to pursue you if they can't reach you - under pain of imprisonment and lurid fines on a daily basis) is disgusting.
Meanwhile, the Greens are pushing for bans on plastic straws - which only account for 0.01% of ocean trash, of which 97% comes from other nations (Africa, India and Asia)... and almost all of that is flowing into the oceans from two rivers: One in Africa and one in India. Australians don't pollute the oceans any more due to two generations of public education here. Yet we're the ones forced to endure the myth of plastic bags and plastic straws.
The same SJWs pushing these things our way are the same do-gooders shutting down access to parks and detecting locations "for the good of the environment". The next time you dig up a 100 year old hand-forged nail rusting away in the dirt, think about how you're an offender for "interfering with Heritage items". Yes, that's how bad regulations have become. You should have left that nail in the ground if the Greens are to be believed.

That is a worry 1200 a day fine for not complying. We have signed up to the United Nations agreements, which has and will take away a lot of our freedoms. A lot of the new LED lighting, has a camera incorporated and sound recording. l am reading that with the roll out of the new 5g, will come cameras and sound recording, also x ray three D imaging capabilities. l am not looking forward to a cashless society.

Re: Big Brother Coming After Us
I don't talk to my Doctor on my android mobile anymore. Recently she called me to discuss the results of a bloodtest and suggested some options.
Within 2 or 3 hours of our conversation, internet adds began popping up on every web page referencing drugs and solutions for the very same problems I had discussed with my Dr.
Nothing is sacrosanct anymore, we are just bots in an enormous game led along by the nose with mind control and propaganda, as many have already noted, just as Orwell predicted!

Re: Big Brother Coming After Us
They introduced computers, we all dived on them. They introduced the mobile phone, we all dived on it. They introduced internet banking, wow no need to go to your local bank for monetary transactions anymore. They introduced online gambling, incredible, I can now bet/gamble from home, unbelievable, magical, things that are a must have & we can't live without, so say the majority of users.
What was that you say "Big Brother is Watching/Coming after us?" They never stopped from day one.
We then demand privacy when in fact, we ourselves have voluntarily played into their hands?
Why don't we all cancel all these above conveniences (for the sake of privacy) & try to live without? Oh I forgot, we can't can we, we've got to keep up with the changes, so that we don't fall behind, for change is inevitable & all to convenient hey?
Cheers Kon

Re: Big Brother Coming After Us
Is not the software incorporated in the later mobile phones the same &/or can be used in a similar manner? So why are most of us happy to proceed in purchasing such equipment, for it was not Minelab/Samsung nor Apple iPhone knocking on our door, but us busting to purchase the latest/greatest no?
We curse the amount of cameras we see being put up in many a different locality by the authorities in charge, in order to catch/fine the unwary suspect of doing the wrong thing, yet we ourselves go out of our way to purchase the latest/greatest in digital recording gear, in the hope of catching our unwary neighbour doing the wrong thing?
I'v said this before & I'll say it again, supply & demand govern our daily lives. No company produces something, that is neither needed, nor wanted by the masses, they produce what the masses hope to see/gain, but not without some form of risk/detriment to ones personal existence. It's a price unfortunately, all who get caught up in it, (meaning most of us) end up paying for.
We can spend as much time as we like, worrying about who's behind in running the worlds decision making, but I have to ask myself, If it aint this lot, wont it be some other lot? Can anyone change a hair on their heads, if its not in their power to do so? So why worry about matters we have absolutely no control over? It is only through the unity of the masses that major changes can & do take place, not through a handful few.
Cheers Kon.

All sent to the cloud even when it's turned of, so you can run but you cant hide, is nothing safe anymore. just to bad that ML can't get the xchange2 software to cooperate with 7000 I've been asking for over 12 months now to get this fixed.

GPZhunter, I forgot to mention if the GPZ GPS system can track me everywhere I go, good luck to them. Unless they're into mining operations, most the places I'v last gone over, are now all but bare bumbed of colour. One would struggle to find colour with the SDC/Gold Bug 2, not alone a multi-grammer. They're welcome to the lot of them.

I read a minelab statement saying they can't and don't track you via GPS. Has this been refuted or are you saying the system can be hacked as all computers can be? I would love to know as I'm on a 1000 oz patch I'm trying to keep quiet ATM. I wish anyways

Hi
Im more concerned about the underhand practices of Corporations. These have a greater effect on our daily lives.Inflation was probably around 3% last year and wages growth was slow. For some reason insurance companies felt in reasonable to raise premiums by 18%.And dont get me started on power. No such thing as customer loyalty.AGL has lost me as a customer by hiking my price.Went on Govt site got $50 then swapped to Tango.AGL came back (obviously they have a section that employes weasles) and offered me a better price. On principle I told them being a longterm customer (I should be on their best price) and even if I get their power for free Im not swapping back. These underhand practices need to be changed.
Cheers Dig
