U.S. SDC2300..Are they getting a different model?
G'day all, I spotted this on a US detector shop website..Have a look at the pic that shows the on/off switch and sensitivity setting switch
My SDC only goes to setting number 5 as maximum..what do the yanks get that we don't?
Not sure exactly how old this web page is

Hi Sharkbait,
I think that they have made it a more simpler for the US market. Ours have 8 sensitivity settings on them as well.
Cheers
Doug

No ref to a Salt mode on that Yank version...Maybe it is a knock off.

No Adrian there isn't but I reckon they just might be making the controls simpler for the Americans.

Hey Doug, that's very interesting mate You've now aroused my curiosity
Would be interesting to know if any other members have the different,we'll call it "US version"? I wasn't aware that you could buy one with the sens. setting with a max of 8..and as Adrian mentioned, there is no salt settings either
Cheers....Dave

Hi Dave,
I have the normal SDC like you with the 3 salt settings and 5 normal settings. I think the US version just has a different sticker which shows it as 8 settings.

I am pretty sure that the Salt settings are a different timing to the other 1 to 5 settings on my SDC.

Is this a genuine SDC 2300 ???
Found this in an Aussie listing on American Ebay.
It is very different compared to my 2300.

Yep the dials are different to ours as well, they may well work the same with different/no label indicating salt mode, but it may well still be there.

But did you notice that the SDC2300 logo is also missing from the control side of the tecta??

Adrian, there are also inconsistencies across some of the dealership photos advertising the SDC
Not naming anyone, but have a look at a popular dealer in WA,and also NSW..They both show two versions of the SDC in their pics of the machine...The plot thickens
Maybe the one without the SDC2300 logo was an early prototype?

Reply from Minelab.
They do not manufacture different versions of the SDC2300 nor have they changed the decals.

Re: U.S. SDC2300..Are they getting a different model?
ML said that some 2300 owners have been known to fit their own decals??............Ya gotta Ask, Why??
Who would buy it? I certainly would not because I would assume it to be tampered with or that it was a fake.

Re: U.S. SDC2300..Are they getting a different model?
Seems that the SDC2300 in that advert photo was from a pre production run model and is a genuine ML SDC 2300.
It should disappear from future adds.
This is he general gist of what ML has indicated re the tecta in question:
The pre-production models were labelled like that because they were still designing the salt settings at that stage. All units that have ever been for sale to the public have the salt settings on the decal.
The Salt timings are very different to the normal timings as they are designed to work in salty conditions while the timings for the normal sensitivity ranges are designed to be used in the harsh soils of outback Australia.
I will also add here that whenever I have asked ML Customer service and tech Dept questions regarding any aspects of their tectas from the days of the 15000 up until the very latest machines, they have always responded promptly, helpfully and in a very professional manner.
