Prospector missing in the Leonora area of WA.
News Alert!!
An APLA member and leaseholder has been missing from his camp for the last 36 hours. The Leonora Police have been out there twice and have now called in the SES. The prospector was last seen by his wife and his mate at about 4.00 pm Sunday night when he walked out of camp carrying a camelback pack, an EPIRB, a GPS and an iPad. He knows the area well, owning leases there for about 4 years and is a good bushman. Lot's of speculation but nothing more in facts.
I was helping the member regarding a Mining Warden's court case due tomorrow in Leonora and that's how I found out he was missing. I called him to ensure he was "right to go" and had all the paperwork I'd sent him for tomorrow's court appearance. The guy is unlikely to be simply lost IMO. He had all the right gear with him so it doesn't look good. We all hope for the best.

Sounds like an experienced prospector to me Ichi-iban. I can on hope he hasn't met with any serious accident somewhere along the way & he's found alive & well.

Yeah. I would sorta be thinking "I'm set", with my gear heading out like that. Doesn't sound good, hope I'm wrong.

Re: Prospector missing in the Leonora area of WA.
Experienced bushman. In very familiar territory. Plenty of emerg equipment.
Fell down a mine shaft ?= very unlikely. Got lost? = near on impossible. Did runner ?..Not many places to do a runner to out there unless you can fly. So, Doubtful but possible.
Attacked by wild dogs? = doubtful. Bitten by a snake ? Always possible. Trampled by a crazy bull camel ?. Any camels out that way??
Had a heart attack? = doubtful. Attacked by a psychopath ?= possible. There are some odd bods running loose in the scrub.
Whatever happened it prevented the epirb from being activated...so far.

Re: Prospector missing in the Leonora area of WA.
Found , safe and well, although 50kms SW from where he went missing.
If he had walked north a bit he would have hit the Leonora to Laverton highway !!?? Something a little strange here !
