Australia Wide Motor Vehicle Defective Airbag Recall
If you have a motor vehicle that has a Takata Airbag fitted listed in the link below, get it checked immediately
as they are likely to explode without warning:
https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recalls/compulsory-takata-airbag-recall/takata-airbag-recalls-list#id5
If it is not on the list as some vehicle manufactures are not obliged to disclose info on vehicles fitted with this airbag
until April 2018 check your vehicle specifications ASAP.
THIS IS NOT SPAM
Cheers
Ted

Re: Australia Wide Motor Vehicle Defective Airbag Recall
Had to take me bt50 in November last year to have this replaced.
Only took couple hour's job done
My only issue is mazda still call me weekly and send texts and emails telling me to book it in still.
And every time i speak to Mazda they apologise for the constant reminders and say they can see it on the computer that the job has been done.
Go figure

Re: Australia Wide Motor Vehicle Defective Airbag Recall
It is the biggest car manufacturing recall in History. More than 2.3 million cars here in Australia have become subject to the recall of air bags made by Japanese manufacturer Takata since 2009. Over 40 million cars recalled in America alone. The Japanese manufacturing company Takata, filled for bankruptcy back in June 2017.
As Ted stated, anyone who believes their vehicle might be affected, should get in touch with their local car manufacturing representatives.
Thanks Ted.
Cheers Kon.

Re: Australia Wide Motor Vehicle Defective Airbag Recall
I've had my Mitsubishi Pajero back now 3 times. The driver side airbag had to be done twice as they realised that the replacement parts that they got from Mitsubishi were also faulty. They then called me back in to get the left hand side one done. They couldn't do the whole lot in one go, not a lot of replacement parts to go around first up. Took about 1 hr each time to replace.

My Landrover Defender does not have any airbags at all fitted. Which makes me very happy.

Our Lancer has been back 4 times and is due to go back again as they are using 2nd hand air bags that still have a couple of years on them before they fail.

Re: Australia Wide Motor Vehicle Defective Airbag Recall
GMH General Motors Holden has announced a 300,000 vehicle recall over faulty air bags. I dread to see the full April figures, of what make/model & number of vehicles have been affected. Either way it is not looking good at the moment guys. Once again it is quite evident, that cost cutting, is costing people lives.

Re: Australia Wide Motor Vehicle Defective Airbag Recall
I will never understand how it was made possible to legally fit cars with a bomb that could go off in your face at any moment when it is known that you could loose your face, eyes, ears, nose when it goes off.
My missus when driving (All 4 foot eleven of her) has to sit with the seat so far forward in order for her feet to reach the peddles that her nose is almost touching the steering wheel. If she had a head on or came to a sudden stop it is a certainty that she will get air bag plastic housing embedded in her face along with a steering wheel and possibly decapitated.
Cars are so flimsy these days that it is deemed necessary to fit these bomb type air bags and yet when you see cars that have been involved in head on mid to high speed bingles the first thing that you notice is how totally crumpled and destroyed the cars involved are and how totally enclosed and mangled the occupants have become even though the so called life saving air bags have deployed. Rather than save a life, these bags and self destroying car designs are killing and maiming more people than ever before. Most victims have to be almost hosed out of the vehicle in order to extract them.
Another issue is the number of drivers hitting the accelerator instead of the brake resulting in cars ending up in house bedrooms and lounge rooms and people being struck at intersections and pedestrian crossings.
This is occurring because the accelerator pedals of modern cars have been moved further to the left and so older drivers who have upgraded to a modern vehicle find their right foot coming down on the accelerator instead of the break in an emergency stop or breaking action.
Older vehicles had the accelerator pedal closer to the right side wall of the car and further from the break, this in turn reduced to almost zero the chance of the foot coming down on the wrong pedal.
Also I have noticed these days that the accelerator pedal hight in some cars is lower than the brake pedal. This as in my case can result in the right foot shoe sole becoming stuck under the edge of the break pedal. The time taken to correct this can result in a rear ender or not stopping soon enough at a crossing or stop sign. IE running into people at a pedestrian or even a school crossing.

Re: Australia Wide Motor Vehicle Defective Airbag Recall
Skookumchuck Yer mate I had the same problem. But I didn't have to wait a year. When I rang to make the appointment they also told me that they had to wait until the parts come in. Sometimes this took over a month. I've had three replacements now and every time it was the same, you had to wait. The car dealers send out the letters saying that you need to deal with this ASAP and when you do, no parts. Up to this date, my car is now OKskookumchuck wrote:i had receved a notice in the post that my car needed airbag replacement. i rang for an appointmet to get them replaced and they told me that the manufacture hadn't sent tem yet. this was last year ! every time i ring i get the same answer. not in yet. hope i don't have a prang ! i have a bmw x5

Re: Australia Wide Motor Vehicle Defective Airbag Recall
Wouldn't need a bloody air bag bomb behind the steering wheel if cars were fitted with full harness seat belts. They work pretty darn well in race car crashes.
If I crashed my 67 Fairlane into one of todays self destroying air bagged modern cars I know who will have the best chance of survival.
Sort of like driving a sherman tank over a match box.
Didja know that a lot of cars today do not have the engines bolted in place?/ They are glued in. .....Why? You may ask.... Well it is to allow the engine ta fly outa the engine bay in a head on crash and thereby not be shoved into the driving cabin. Instead the engine from each vehicle flies out and lands in the cabin of the other car allowing the front end of each vehicle to crunch up and crush the occupants of each vehicle. AAAAAH HAAAAA HAAAAAAA HAAAAAAA etc etc

Re: Australia Wide Motor Vehicle Defective Airbag Recall
Just to let everyone know that the "Like for Like"Air bag replacements are only good for up to 6 years so will need replacing again. My last one was replaced 26/08/16 and is due for another replacement 6 years from this date. This is where a new air bag of the same affected type has been installed due to shortages.
