Is this a problem peculiar to me
Hi to all,,
A few times over the past couple of years or so I have typed a post and then before I finished and sent it,, it disappeared.. Last week I typed out a lengthy recall of my prospecting, metal detecting sojourney in life and when I clicked on send it disappeared......
On these occasions I punch all sorts of buttons to no avail... I am a one finger typist, so therefore am somewhat slow to get it all down,, is there a time limit that once exceeded wipes the lot??? Does the same wipeout apply if the unseen powers consider it all a lot of waffle??
Perhaps the electronic mailman loses his way midst the transisters, resisters & condensers and my post winds up in the mailbox of some green man on mars!!!! I just dunno..... Maybe--- they have gone the same way as the 'good ole days'...Can someone turn on the light!!!! noyungan

Re: Is this a problem peculiar to me
You're not alone.
For any long posts I write it all up in either a text editor or Word first then log into the forum and copy and paste it in when I am ready. I have lost a couple of posts and I write up all of my long posts that way.
Better to do it this way rather than lose your post and your marbles.
Regards Axtyr.

Just copy to the clipboard periodically as you go or before you send so if it disappears in cyberspace you can just paste it back.

Re: Is this a problem peculiar to me
Yeah the post can "time out" if it is a long one...I do not know what the time limit is and it has caught me out a few times.
Type it up in Word first and save it if you plan on taking a break in the mean time

Used to type it out in Word however all I do now is type an email to myself then copy and paste it to the forum.
RE: Is This a Problem Peculiar To Me
Greetings and salutations to Axtyr, Deutran, Adrian and Nightjar, for enlightening me to the fact I am not alone when it comes to losing posts....And yes I take your helps on board,, I am now the happiest one finger typer this side of silicon
valley!!!!!
I had anticipated seeking the help of the local kindergarten kids who appear to manipulate all things electronic!!! I would have gone there but the embarrassment may have killed me..
All this bears out the value of this forum, it's great... Thanks fellers,, may all your days be golden.. noyungan

Re: Is this a problem peculiar to me
G'day noyungan
It is not a problem just to you, but to all members. Less the odd auto word censoring, programmed into the forum, no post is censored, edited, or deleted, prior to the post being put up for all to see. Members please take note to tick that little white box, which comes straight after "Log In Automatically" prior to logging on". This will enable members to take their time when writing up lengthy posts, of a much greater time duration.
The forum also has, a maximum auto cut off time of "60 minutes" of no activity, before it considers a "logged on" member to be "Off Line"
Cheers Kon.
