Re: Software hang-ups?
I have exactly the same happen with my GPZ7000 when switching between modes, mine is one of the early machines. Perhaps being aware of the issue now minelab will release a fix soon.
I also had to send my 14" coil back as it sounds off whenever i bump it even slightly or run it over twigs, grass etc. I hope the long term durability of these machines/coils isnt an issue. I still have my GPX5000 as a backup just in case.

Re: Software hang-ups?
G'day peteren,
I haven't had the problem with mine and I picked up my GPZ on the first day of release. Hopefully when you do the update and try it out your problems are solved, will be interesting to see if it does solve your problem.
Cheers.
Mike.

Re: Software hang-ups?
Mine worked flawlessly until about 5 weeks ago when it happened to me, just once.
After reading this post I sent an email off to Minelab to inform them that it had happened to me as well.
Regards Axtyr.

Re: Software hang-ups?
I have updated my GPZ-7000 to the latest Update 2 software. Over the course of 3 days use in the GT, I had the symptoms Peteren described at the start of this thread 3 times.
With the earlier software version, I could not use Normal Ground Type so I left it in Difficult. However with the latest software and new features, I am able to use Normal. In order to train myself to pick hot rocks in Normal Mode, I changed back to Difficult and then back to Normal within 1 minute. I might have changed Ground Types more than 30 times in that time without problem, so the 3 instances I encountered might be less than 10%.
When changing Ground Types the audio threshold hum is ‘blanked’ for a second or 2 before resuming. When this problem arose, the blanked period continued and normal operation could only be restored by a power reset. When this problem is present, if any button is pressed the audio ‘beep’ is still present, and the screen icons are highlighted as expected.
I did find gold and I tend to think this is a software glitch and not a hardware problem.
Settings were Gold Mode = General, Sensitivity around 12, Smoothing Off, Threshold 27.
Annoyance factor 2/10.
Cheers JRW

Re: Software hang-ups?
Hello, its been awhile!
Due to work and family I've been sidelined for some time.
Has there been any progress on this lockup issue?
