From last years W.A trip
Hi all.
Well we thought we would show a little bit of eye candy from W.A last season.
Mike melted just over 5 ounces of the tiny flyspecks pieces of gold we had found together
Gotta love the SDC2300, and GPZ7000 combo
As you can see there are 3 just over an ounce each and 1 ended up just over 2 ounces.
Plus all the other bits we haven't done anything with.
We are looking forward to getting back over to W.A this year, as we pegged two leases,
which should be approved before its time to head back over.

Thanks for showing. I often wonder how you 2 would go if you didn't detect gentleman hours. Lazy days and sleep ins lol. Hope the leases work out and the claim jumpers stay at Bay. Just set up a long term camp wander out for a short stroll. What a great way to go

Thankyou all for your comments
GB we are just a couple of old farts, take one day at a time.. enjoying life.
If there is gold in the ground for us, it will still be there when we get up and out
It is a great life.
Yes Dave.. love the gold in that form.. i can handle them, and not get into trouble when i drop them
As when it was in flyspeckled pieces and then I dropped them. They would fly everywhere
And You wouldn't want to be me
Hey GemQ
The show would be finished filming before we even got out of bed

The very first trip over we went on a tour, didnt learn much, but the people we met on the tour were great,
Then after the tour
A couple that had done the tours before, and been over in W.A a few times.
took us under their wing, ( so to speak ) and we learnt so much from being with these great people.
Old saying.. ( its not what you know, its who you know )
We will be ever gratefull to them.
Also when you join ALPA and go to the meetings, you get to know more nice people.. the more you met the more you learn.
Even through this forum, we have met and made great friends. also have helped out, and given advice.
The rest is what we have learnt along the way.
Always do the right thing by everyone you met, including the pastoralist.
This year it will be out tenth trip over, its like going home, feel's like we have two homes
Water, is available in the towns.. most at the infomation centres..
Ask the locals, and they are more then happy to tell you, ask the grey nomads, that travel over each year,
They will also be able to tell you..
Thankyou all for you comments..

Hi Jen, That is some great help for those thinking or contemplating going to WA for the first time (detecting)
Nice finds of gold too & I hope this year see's you do well on your own leases.
What got you to choose the areas you did? Gold I guess but I would have thought if there was gold on it then it would already be claimed or worked to death. Are you going to get involved with more than just detecting to uncover & retrieve any gold? Still....be nice to be able to have your "own" ground. Best of luck with it.

Re: From last years W.A trip
Hi kiwijw
After visting W.A each year for 9 years.. it starts to feel like you are going home. And you get to know the areas well.
There are leases everywhere, some is land grabbing, some are working leases, there is gold on most areas, if you know abit about how to read the ground.
Which we have learnt by trial and error over the years.
Our lease may not have much gold on it., as it has been leased before. And before that and before that, probably goes back a fair way back.
But new technology helps open the ground again.
We dont care about how much gold we may or may not get, its just gives us a place to call home.
200 hectares of it.
Plus We can still travel out to open ground from there.
We use moving maps, on the computer, we always know where we are, if we are on somesones lease, ( as you are allowed to drive through leases to get across to other areas, there arent any fences, well not many.
Which I have to thank Davsgold and his wife Veronica for helping us with that. Thankyou very much really appreciated all your help.
Like i said there are always the good people out there, that are more then happy to help out.
Just have to be wary of the not so good ones.
Which we haven't had any trouble there yet!
Heard story's..
Yep we will enjoy going over to W.A again, and catch up with a few very good friends.
Its a funny old world. We make more friends over there, that travel across as well from here

Re: From last years W.A trip
Morning Jen/Mike,
Location of your leases you did your research well for your second home.
Good luck, looks like you'll have another gold bar at end of season.

Great work Mike & Jen. Every time I hear your story's and see the gold each year that the both of you have found, makes me very envious and wishing I could be there. But one day it will happen, but when who knows.

Re: From last years W.A trip
Hi Jen,
Feel sure we'll catch up while we are at our camp. Will listen out for you, what channel do you use?
Earlier I mentioned on 'pegging a lease" about a very helpful Pastoralist at Black Flag and the shack he took us too.
Was looking for another photo and came across this one in relation to my comment that it was very cold and the shack and fire was a welcome stay as opposed to our tents.
1990 A couple of my mates.

G'day All,
Thanks for the welcome great replies to our finds and pics.
Pete, you all looked very cosy in the old shack and thanks for sharing your pic and great story. Yes that area is one of the first areas we were shown the first year we came over to WA. We will be looking forward to catching up with you over there.
Cheers.
Mike.

Re: From last years W.A trip
Cosy looking shack!
We were also offered a shack to stay in as well.
Well it wasnt a shack
It was a huge, and i mean HUGE no longer used as a shearing shed.
It did have toilet and everything attached but vandals had destroyed all that.
But this shearing shed we could park our large caravan in.. plus a few others
