Water Tanks Empty Water Tanks

Gday

I have a set up on my pc with a 55 ltr black plastic water tank, I made up the brackets and set it up myself, it fits between the rear bumper and the back fuel tank, just in under the rear step area, the only problem with it is that it hangs a tad low and I have managed to bash it on the ground and bend the brackets for the third time now, so out it has to come out for some panel beating.

Anyway some time back I met a bloke that had an aluminium or stainless steel one fitted under the back of his pc in the same spot that I have mine, with the filler tube being in the gap between the bumper and the base of the rear doors close to the centre, he said that he bought it in Perth somewhere??, cant recall now where he said it was.

I was just wondering if anybody knows who makes these tanks and where they are located, it does not matter if they are in WA or anywhere else in Australia for that matter as they will send it to me I expect, and I can fit it up myself, also I believe that they are used on the toyota bush campers, so if anyone knows of a wrecker who deals in these things I might be able to lay my hands on one from them.

cheers

Gday

Well after some research and phone calls I tracked down a manufacturer of water tanks, as it turned out I saw one on ebay that looked as though it was the right one, anyway I made some enquiries as I didnt want to bid on it just to find that it would not fit.

After being assured by the seller that it was for the troopie I contacted the manufacturer who was LRA think thats Longe Range Accessories? anyway I gave them the details that were on the tank and they replied saying that they could do it for $1200 plus freight, so I started bidding on the tank on ebay, in the end I got it for about $480 including freight, the freight price I was quoted jumped up a bit once I had bought it though Suspect but I was still happy with getting it at less than half of the new price.

Its in good condition and is fully baffled inside but there are no fittings on it, only two internal threads and one filler tube, I will have to fit another threaded nut for draining it as I will be running an inline pump from one and a vent from the other, also I am going to look into fitting it with a water gauge as well, like in the caravan water tanks.

So my next mission will be to remove the old tank and fit this one in, shouldnt be too hard (touch wood) rather than chuck the plastic 55 ltr tank I thought that I might fit it on the roof rack and use it for a shower.

cheers

I was thinking of fitting about 3 lengths of 100mil sewer pipe side by side under my tray with endcaps, joined together and having filler and tap both on the one endcap at the rear for ease of operation, endcaps unscrew and a length of wire on a cordless drill with rag shuved up it to clean it when its time .
Seen it done on a cruiser tray back.
Cheap as chips!
