G'Day from Horsham Victoria
Hi guys
Just found the Forum loving it and reading lots of great information
Been 10 years since i swung a detector so i took the plunge and brought a SDC2300 and took it to Stawell with a couple of gold field maps to trial the detector out in the field but ran into Flora and Fauna Reserve after reserve after reserve.3 hours of driving around and Nada
I drove around North West Stawel today so tomorrow i will scout out the North East areas to try to find a suitable area that i can trial the SDC.
Praying there is some crown land that is still available as Stawell is my closet goldfield to Horsham.
Cheers for now
Take care

Re: G'Day from Horsham Victoria
Hi Big , Doug Stone has a new map sheet out on Stawell . It should have all the crown land marked , but Victoria's different varieties of crown land is very confusing as to where you can and cannot dig .
Hope you find some ware , otherwise its a bit further to Ararat or St Arnaud
thanks Brett

Re: G'Day from Horsham Victoria
Thanks Brett
Have Doug Stones map and while its excellent in relation to location of known workings it doesn't cover 'all' the Reserves that appear on every corner.
Not sure how up to date the map is none the less still a great introductory guide.
Cheers for the reply

Re: G'Day from Horsham Victoria
Hey Bigsy
the iron bark forest off the Stawell-Deep Lead Rd is ok just stay south of East West Rd.
You'll find a lot of diggings around where Puddler track meets Hammond track. there's and old puddler near a dam on that intersection.
go to http://er-info.dpi.vic.gov.au/sd_weave/anonymous.html and search the area, select the crown land and the old mining activity etc. overlays. Better than paying for maps.
Cheers

Re: G'Day from Horsham Victoria
Took the SDC2300 out today at Avoca for a couple of hours
Pretty quiet ground
No headphones,sensitivity on 5 threshold 3 bars from maximum,found the mandatory nails,lead shot,small tacs…and….drum roll…. the first 'sdc23' gold.
Nice little rough 1 gram specky on quartz at 20 cm in a gully.Almost lost the signal a few times but all good.
I have my .2gram test nugget as a control on all trips.
Couldn't find my old stomping ground memory must be fading i'll have to try and locate my old maps.
Any way the SDC cherry has been broken
Take care all
