GPZ-7000 False signal
Went out for a swing yesterday and got this nice signal.
Got stuck in to digging but after getting down 16" to a hard rock/quarts base the signal moved along heading towards the camera.
This hole ended up being twice this size by the time I filled it back in with nothing to show for my efforts.
I know the Zed loves tree roots but is anyone else having issues with false signals like this one?
It's like the Zed was picking up the line in the wall of the hole where the light gray clay meets the red clay?
Cheers,
Hoff.

Re: GPZ-7000 False signal
Im 99% sure that's ground noise. You'll find if you slow your swing speed right down the Zed will soak up it all up. The Zed hates moving fast over hot pockets like that. Give it a try. Good luck. JG.
false signal
We used to get a lot of false signals from laterite when we were detecting for unexploded ordnance in the Northern Territory and Laos. Very frustrating digging holes and not finding anything especially if we were using the Forster Locator for deep search.

Re: GPZ-7000 False signal
Thanks Jay I'll try that next time!
That would suck Doug but not your worst occupational hazard that's for sure.
Cheers guys,
Hoff.

Re: GPZ-7000 False signal
Yeah not only slowing down with the Z but also you really want to dig a bigger, wider hole at the start so you can keep your coil motion parallel to the starting ground level and keep away from up and down motion with the coil. I bet if you were to run your coil over the open hole without dipping the coil into the hole the signal would vanish.

Re: GPZ-7000 False signal
maybe try the old up and down bounce balance next to the hole without holding down the balance button and then go very slowly over the hole again.
that seems to work for me and many others to help with ground noise/s.
you could also try changing the detect mode between the h/y and general this also sometimes helps.
but watching your video I would expect the response to become a lot more positive than that

Re: GPZ-7000 False signal
Were you using normal ground mode or difficult ? I find normal will highlight hot pockets of ground far more than difficult, especially using high yield.
Any time I get a signal I think may be ground noise ( after taking off a few inches ), I switch to severe. If it is a target, it will still be there, noisy ground will disappear or be vastly diminished !
Cheers,
Rick

Re: GPZ-7000 False signal
Hi AraratGold,
I was in H/Y Difficult mate, I only really switch to Normal to highlight a possible target.
Went out the other day and slowing my swing right down when dealing with a dodgy signal worked a treat, the Zed just soaked it up.
Thanks for all the other reply's guys I gave all your little tips a whirl.
Best of luck out there.

Hoff.
