Re: Off Topic Nikon P900/1000
That brings to mind a story, which you have probably heard, about the two fellows camped out at night eating wombat steaks at their camp fire when a ranger comes across them. He points out that wombat is a protected species and they will be charged. The men explain that they are ardent conservationists and support protection of endangered species but as they had accidentally hit the animal when driving and as it was dead it seemed better to use the meat than just abandon the carcass.
The ranger listens to their story but says they will still have to go to court.
When they appear before a magistrate they again explain their support of wildlife protection laws but felt it better to use the wombat meat given that the animal was dead. The magistrate listens but says that nonetheless, they have broken the law and orders a $1000 fine each. Having given his verdict the magistrate then asks, "As a matter of curiosity what does wombat meat taste like?"
The men look at each other and then one stands up and says, "Well, your honour, it tastes a bit like a cross between the quokka and a yellow bellied glider."

Blasted magpies got our second blue tongue. Found him up in the back yard with a hole picked in his head. There is a third one here but have not seen it for a while.
If ever there ever was a bird that should be exterminated it is the bloody magpie. They have been responsible for killing in my yard, sparrows, crested pigeons, small skinks, young galahs, our blue tongue lizards and had a go at our cats. Imagine what they must be cleaning up in the wild. Oh well such is life. I guess that is not much compared to what humanity has wiped out aye!

don't rightly know Adrian, but the two little stars or what ever they are on the object don't add up.
if it's a space ship it's massive, not mould on the lens or a cockatoo flying at night again

G’day Adrian,
Could it be thin cloud/smoke, allowing the stars to be seen through them?
Cheers.
Mike.

Nup! Not mould, not smoke. Not a night flying cockatoo .
Clue 1.
Pic taken last night with P1000 on high zoom in full colour mode, no flash. Twas a dark and stormy night.
Okaaay Okaaay!
Clue 2.
This thing is tough and can handle serious bombardment while remaining unmoved.. It can shine bright but will not do instantaneous right angle turns.

Re: Off Topic Nikon P900/1000
I thought the blokes with Photo shop might have had a crack at it.
It is a pic of a road cats eye reflector. Taken at night. Raining heavily and very dark. The stars are rain drops hitting the road. I used f 7.3 at a shutter speed of 1250 sec so as to catch the street light highlights in the rain drops and to blacken the back ground.....and there you have a UFO flying through space.
This is it in daylight.

Adrian, I think you need a hobby to keep yourself occupied. Have you ever thought of taking up metal detecting?

Yeah Idid. Gave it a try out for around 60 years but felt I was getting in a rut. Might give it another go soon.

Re: Off Topic Nikon P900/1000
Mars Photo's.
The latest Mars shots are interesting although I have only seen two of them. Where are the rest??
These pics (Off Computer Screen) were taken from Curiosity.
This one left of centre enlargement in the above pic, part of top pic looks a bit dodgy aye! What with the UFO's just above the ridge line at 10 oclock n all.
And Ya have to sort of wonder about this pic complete with UFOs and even a Terradactyl?? Looks like it was taken down at Batemans Bay along the cliffs. although I have not seen a Terradactyl down there recently.

Re: Off Topic Nikon P900/1000
I reckon my mag field flipped and now pretty much repels everything.
There is a box of uranium ore just a metre away in my work room. Have a dose meter operating continuously and also a radon counter.
This bunny is some kids pet for sure and I have plastered pics of it on trees near the foot paths around our area ( he is likely not far from home) but no bites yet.

Re: Off Topic Nikon P900/1000
Good point big fella.
The GPX 6000 is coming and no big promo nugget finds yet.
This tecta has got my interest and sounds like just what the doctor ordered. Auto everything, no cables, batteries, boosters or bungies hanging everywhere and can find tiddlers to biggies in all ground types inc salt
