Gpz settings for WA
Hi
Just wanting to know about using the GPZ in WA , what settings are people using over here. Have been using GPZ for about 6 months with some success mainly on factory settings.
Thanks

Re: Gpz settings for WA
Do the software upgrade:
Audio Smoothing: OFF
Tone: 60
High Yield/Difficult
Ground Balance: Auto
Sensitivity: 9
Volume: 10 for B&Z with Dual speakers, 8 for Headphones and 12 for the WM 12 speaker only
Try to perform the Ferrite balance in non salty non saturable ground before moving into worse areas.
Keep the coil as level as possible when detecting, bringing one side of the coil down to the ground an then alternating to the other side can create excessive noise which will mask targets, a smooth swing is VITAL.

Thanks JP what about threshold settings Ive heard some people run threshold really low , have you tried this. What head phones are you using.

Re: Gpz settings for WA
Thanks JP
I have been told that you can run the GPZ a bit noisier than other Minelab detectors what do you think? I have tried running detector with smoothing off , but it can be quite noisey.

Re: Gpz settings for WA
I find the GPZ to be quieter than the GPX but you have to work out how to make it that way. At the end of the day it comes down to the operator introducing noise through not understanding the things that cause noise in the first place.
The Audio Smoothing is just a filter, personally I would rather not filter out vital information from the detector and instead focus on maintaining good process to avoid the noise or at least minimise it as much as possible.
Getting your head around the behaviour of the Super D coil, Salt Signal, Saturation signal and the interplay between Volume and Sensitivity is important with the GPZ. Once you master these things its then you who drives the detector rather than the detector driving you. This is primarily what I focus on during our training sessions.

Thanks for the information JP all I need is some cooler weather so I can get out and play with these settings.
