Prospectors and Miners Association of Tasmania
Hi everyone,
It's been talked about for ages. We keep getting grief from Mineral Resources Tasmania whenever anyone asks a question about the rules. Every new rule change seems to be bad news for us prospectors and fossickers, and another nail in the coffin of recreational prospecting.
Whenever anyone tries to raise an issue individually we get ignored or worse. Some of us who've had enough have decided to organise into a formal, incorporated association of prospectors and fossickers, along the lines of PMAV and NAPFA. The constituting meeting will be held in Campbell Town on Saturday the 22nd of August at 11:00 am. Venue still to be decided, probably the pub (seems appropriate!).
If you're interested, please keep an eye out on this topic, or get in contact with me at appleisleprospector at gmail dot com. If you know anyone else down here who might be remotely interested in being involved, please pass this on.
Thanks!
Miguel.

Re: Prospectors and Miners Association of Tasmania
Hi everyone,
The Prospectors and Miners Association of Tasmania is now up and running.
Our website is: http://www.pmat.org.au
Our Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/prospectorsandminerstasmania
I would encourage anyone who enjoys fossicking and prospecting in Tasmania to join up. You can download a membership application from the website. Only standing "truly by each other" will we get a better deal for fossickers and prospectors in Tasmania than the current dog's breakfast of laws and regulations.
Cheers to everyone who contributed, and those who encouraged us to associate, particularly NAPFA and PMAV.

Congratulations!
A big congratulations that you have got organised to represent the views of Tasmanian prospectors and fossickers!
NAPFA has been going three years now -- a lot of hard work but we have some runs on the board, so it can be done. We still have a lot to do, but just being here is an important achievement in itself.
Find a helpful pollie or two and know what it is you want to change and go for it. It will take time but hang in there.
cheers
