Re: New Nugget Finder 17" x 13"
Gave this coil a run on the 4500 and a 5000 for a few hours over the last few days, it certainly finds gold easily enough were previous model coils on these detectors are having trouble finding much at all in the same area.
Compared some of the undug targets with the 7000 and it had no problem hearing them, and some targets found originally with the 7000 before being dug were also compared, and the new 17x13 nf coil on a 5000 could also hear the targets. All small and reasonably shallow, like 4" and 5" was the deepest bits
Nothing big or deep to compare so that will have to wait.
The coil runs very nice and stable on both the 4500 and 5000 so I was very pleased with that, the target signals were crisp and clear and easy to pin point both the undug target and also once out of the hole in the heap of loose dirt.
cheers dave

Hey Dave thanks for putting this up,weve had a great run with these new coils also, some of the bits i would of liked to have a gpz to compare with, when you cross checked them did the gpz or was the gpz a touch brighter responce or similar or weaker?
Ive had the NF on for 3-4 weeks now, lovin it and what it can pull but every now and again ive got these ghost signals, kinda like ground noise but stronger, only had a few but its fooled me a few times,i can live with that the extra performance is worth it.....
you in service next few days?

Re: New Nugget Finder 17" x 13"
G'day goldchaser
About using and cross checking the targets with the 7000 and the NF 17x13 evolution on both the 4500 and 5000, some of the targets were defiantly better/brighter on the 7000, that's on some of the ones the 7000 found first, the other way round much of a muchness. Mind you these are small targets and the deepest were about 5"
I am using the B&Z booster with both the 7000 and the 4500, the 5000 was with headphones plugged into the 5000 ML battery. I haven't done a real lot of cross checking between detectors and coils, just when a new coil is available I like to do a bit of cross checking to keep a handle on what works best with what.
cheers dave

Re: New Nugget Finder 17" x 13"
I used a 17x13/5000 up in FNQ recently, and it gave excellent target responses on leaf gold down to a good 12", ran particularly smoothly until the ground heated up in the arvo, and weight was not a problem for swinging it all day.
It gave some unusual signals on some targets ; quite a few boot tacks gave a drop tone, and a lead ball gave one of those interesting warbly "electrical" signals. It's a great coil
Phil

Re new coil
If you're getting on in life a bit ,or have bad shoulders ,see if you can borrow one before you buy one and see if you can live with it ,not trying to start crap I've got one just giving a heads up. I'm running a lil ripper battery mounted in the box cover which makes it a bit worse .cant tell you much about it yet ,the ground was layered wet n dry .but it seemed smooth although it was set pretty tame.

After swinging a 7000 for weeks on end it seems fairly light to me.

Re coil
Unreal how that hasn't been sorted yet dave there's a lot of retired smart fellas on here.to be honest I only know of two blokes swinging 7000s round here.only first day with the 17 x13 it does hug the ground well with its weight.no bump sensitivity at all.give a bit if a groan when the cable brushed some scrub is all.see what happens when the ground evens out a bit.

Re: New Nugget Finder 17" x 13"
Heres one nugget today we compared,45 wasnt in the running with the NF coil against the 7k,ironstone speci, mike pinged another 6+ bits deep, all speci type stuff,on the right gold the 7k makes the gpx's look silly even with the new coils grrrrrrrrrr:evil:

Re: New Nugget Finder 17" x 13"
is this the evolution?
If so, is it suitable to use with a whites TDI PRO OZ, and has anyone tried one on a tdi?
