Evening guys n gals matt here from melb
Purchased a 4000 at the start of the year and have been lucky enough to get out for a swing around about 10 times since then so fair enough to say I'm a newby. Every time i head out for a swing I come back with more questions than answers!! so would love to learn heaps from the forum. Look forward to it thanks.

Hi Mazzam,
and welcome to the forum.
4000 is a great machine and i hold a personal record for most nuggets in one day with it (i do own 5000gpx).

How did you goon your trips?
Any gold?
What coil you prefer to use?

Feel free to ask any questions gold related.

I have found one small specimen in some old diggings
Coils that come with the detector were a 15x12 commander dd , standard dd and a 12 x 4 nuggeteer mono and I bought an 8 inch mono which would be my fav, I've mainly worked old diggings with the 8 as I find it easy to use and the diggings allows the detector to be quite stable. Good practice whilst getting use to the machine

I find this great for new starters. Its less noise and 8 inch mono is great coil.

For a bigger coils i used coiltek 14 inch mono and found it very good.

Which size of the coil to use will depend of depth of the ground you are detecting as well.

If shallow ground smaller coils are much better to use as they are more sensitive.Bigger coil cover more ground and go deeper.
