Golden Triangle (update)
The Golden Triangle would have to be one of the most heavily detected gold fields you can find. It has given up great prizes over the years but as the years have rolled on gold has become harder to find. Has the 7000 opened opened up the triangle again and brougt it back to the glory days? The answer is NO but it has opened it up to a new type of gold, the gold not heard by other detectors. How plentiful that gold is only time will tell.
A good ground balance is critical and slow speed a must.

Re: Golden Triangle (update)
Glory days G.B? Ha! Far from it. Like the days of old,way back from the 1850s,it were only the hand full few (the so called 5%) that through their hard earned knowledge/experience,happened to find the richest pockets of gold. To every hole bottomed,in shallow working leads,10 were poorly payable or duffers.
What exactly has changed today? I'll tell ya. "NOTHING". The detectable ground over the last 30 odd years or so,has been exhausted, has been saturated,by just about every detector known over the years, but only to the point of past & present detector reach and that don't amount to much, especially here in Victoria, where the majority of shallow workings, containing gold bearing alluvium, are buried deeper down,in mineralized soil/clays & out of reach, even for the GPZ 7000. Unfortunately the so called new type of gold you refer to,aint as plentiful as one might think, but more so to do with the capability,of penetrating better through ground minerals,distinguishing/deciphering,positive targets from negative,is what the GPZ 7000 is all about. So once again,it will be the 5% of detectorists, who have put in the research & (most importantly) "ground time" that will most likely benefit, from the new detectors performance capabilities.
Due to the nature of pulse Induction characteristics, including Zero Voltage Technology, swing speed & optimal ground balance, has always been and will be,a critical ground factor, towards the hearing and/or deciphering,a positive target or not.
Having the best detector for the job alone, won't save anyone, for its only as good as the operator who works it,but,at the same time,it sure feels good knowing, that one is capable of achieving, even 5% better depth, over a majority of gold size/type,than all or any previous detectors used hey?
Cheers Kon.

It appears the type you are talking about is aiding the exceptional depths the 7000 is achieving more on SMALL gold compared to a 5000.
Since you own a 7000 as well a 4500 could you elaborate more GB on that type of new gold?

Re: Golden Triangle (update)
Good onya Jay
Thats a good pick up in anyones book!
Im guessing that you have not been detecting for very long though.
That is not a strange signal at all, nearly every larger nugget I have found made the same warbleing sound unless it was very shallow.
Target recovery tip:
Place your coil close to the target in the pile and just move the dirt, as soon as you move the nugget it will sound off on the detector.
Then you know what hand full of dirt to grab, saves ya alot of time doing it like I say.

Re: Golden Triangle (update)
Top find.Well done Jay. I'd consider investing in a pinpointer, for precise pinpointing of the target. Slugs of that size and quality are'nt exactly in abundance, and the last thing you'd want to see is a nice looking nugget with a pick mark on it.
Thanks for sharing your video with us.

Good find and thanks for the video clip.
A GPX would blast on that piece also at that shallow depth.

Gday Kon, Cheers for that. I agree, iv always been ok without a pin pointer but after this find its time to get one. I was "careful" to dig around it but it was actually quiet crammed. I luckily didn't hit it. I had no idea it was going to be that big!!!!

Hi WMG. The Gully Hunter and I had worked a particular area pretty hard with all combo's of coils and settings on the 4500. The particular area had yielded quite a few pieces that indicted the source wasn't far off. Anyway try as hard as we could with the 4500's there was no-way the ground was giving up it's secret. Anyway I get a call from GH that he had been back to the spot with the 7000 and picked up a few small species. So I headed on over there on a day off with the 7000 and about 20 to 30 minutes later I get a very faint signal that I couldn't describe if I tried, it was just different to the ground type noises that I had been encountering. Any way I scrape off a bit and the signal is still there. Long story short it was a very faint signal with only a slight increase in strength as I got deeper. Over 14 inches down I hit solid fractured type heavily mineralised quartz with the signal still there at this stage I was a little bit excited. Anyway the pick got a fairly heavy workout and smashing into the quartz and finally out came a bit with the gold in it a couple of inches further down. At that stage I was certain that there was no way possible that the 4500's would have ever detected the target. A solid bit of quartz with a reefy bit of gold about 0.8 grams. Waving the coil over the hole and there is another faint signal. But that is another story.

Re: Golden Triangle (update)
In regards to the first piece to come out here are a few pics.
Still have a bit to go before the 1st bit comes out but am now sure it's a positive target.
That's the story of the first piece.
Oops how did this photo get here o'h well that's another story, but still digging.

Re: Golden Triangle (update)
G'day GB,
That looks like a big dig you have going there, also congrats on the first specie you found there. As you wrote earlier, looks like you both are not far off the main source. Keep up the good work you two.
Cheers.
Mike.
