Re: The SD 2000, 2100,2200
Hi Ed
I'm no "techie" but it sure sounds like there's a problem with the detector and it should have picked up the target.I would suggest you try it without enhancer and the headphones in case they are the problem and re introduce them one at a time to see if or which one may be the problem. Also try it without that tape for the same reason. I'd start with the tape first. Not being familiar with the 2000 but does it have a volume control that may be stuck.
Good luck with it
Jim

Re: The SD 2000, 2100,2200
Hi guys,
Problem solved with Carr-ee,s 2000 we played with it today and narrowed it down to his booster he bought.
Disconected booster and all quiet, put my booster on it and had pitch up on high but turn it down a bit and all quiet with plenty to go.
thnx
Ed.

G'day Kerri (won't use 'SmallestKerri')'
well it sounds as if you're doing well - much better than a lot of us would admit I think. Twenty one pieces within a short time of coming into the hobby/pastime sounds pretty good to me. As for the drought you mentioned, this is something we all experience. Well, I suppose the upside to this is the sheer enjoyment of being in the bush when so many others don't have a clue what we're all about.
As for the SD2000 - my first Minelab was a 17000, followed a few years later by an SD 2100, and I've gone as far as a 2200D and that's as far as I'm going to go - unless I win the lottery which is unlikely because I don't buy any tickets. If you're doing OK with the SD2000 you have, and it sounds as if you are, then you've obviously learned to drive it well and are probably doing better than some of the blokes who pontificate on this website. Keep going for it, Kerri, and please let us all know about your experiences. As long as you're in the bush they're successful - if you find gold or a good coin, then it's a bonus, that's all.
Regards

Re: SD2000, 2100, 2200
My father-in-law with 30+ years experience prospecting has a sd2200d, and has no intention of upgrading because he feels, and other people he knows feel that the sd2200d performs as good as any of the gpx's. I'm not going to get into the sd v gpx debate, it doesn't matter to me. You get what you feel comfortable with and what you can afford. If I could have afforded it at the time, I may have got a 4500, but I couldn't, so I got a sd2200d, but I did get a 12v Li-ion battery with built in booster which definitely helps the performance and the battery can go up to 15 hours before charging.
Anyway, on my first trip out to WA. with the 2200 I found 20 nuggets at 32.1 grams and 8 specimens at 50 grams (gold content using specific gravity test - 22.3 grams) Smallest nugget a .4 grammer found at 12" deep using a 11" dd coil.
I'm happy with the 2200 and don't intend to upgrade.
