Black Al GPZ 7000 Covers
Hi members,
I'm designing a cover for the upcoming GPZ 7000 and would like to hear from members what they should expect in the cover of this machine. The new cover will be manufactured with similar materials as the SDC cover. And I may bring out a few more colours, but would like to hear from members which colours?
Anyone that would like to put their name on a waiting list will be served first also.
Well hope to put a few smiles on peoples faces with the new design.
Best regards Black Al.

Re: Black Al GPZ 7000 Covers
I used a tan or khaki colored cover on my GPX. Would prefer something like that but don't care too much. Will you ship to the USA if I were to order one? – AA

Re: Black Al GPZ 7000 Covers
G'day Al, I have one of your covers on my 2300 and am very happy with it.
One thing I did on mine was sew some velcro on the side to make a small "pocket" to accommodate my miners right. [about the size of the speaker flap]
May be worth considering for a new design?
I'll be in the line for a camo one please.

Hi Marty would be good if the dealers included a cover, but the thing is there has to be a cover available! So that's what this thread is all about! I'm open to people's opinion on what they expect on a cover, and so far from a few PM's and various messages a pocket is a popular request. I may bring in one or two more colours to satisfy different taste, and that way friends that go on trips together don't confuse who's machine is who's by having the same cover on.
So far I will be releasing a cover for the control box only( and this will be done after the GPZ release as trial fit has to be done),and when I get a machine in my hot little hands I will look into other accessories for the machine which should be released not too long later.
Regards Black Al.

Re: Black Al GPZ 7000 Covers
Black Al, it is hard until people get one in their hands, but I would expect that the main area for a cover is the control box to protect it when put down on the ground while detcting. Not sure about the control panel, but something for that, that leaves all the controls readily available and visible during use, may also be a good idea.

Re: Black Al GPZ 7000 Covers
Hi members I dont have a price as of yet as I still have to work out how long each case takes from start to finish. This shape is a little more detailed over the SDC cover. I can only estimate around the $130 delivered or there abouts. Will be determined as soon as I get a 7000. It is similar shape as the CTX3030 but not quite the same as there are few variations in Size and mold changes from what i can see so far. But hang in there as I can only release somthing that I have physically fitted.
For those who are eager to use the machine before there are covers available, I suggest that you wrap the control box with glad wrap to prevent marking.
Regards Black Al.

Re: Black Al GPZ 7000 Covers
A pocket on the bottom to fit in a little ice pak could come in handy for those that prospect in the hotter parts of oz.Temps where I detect often exceed high 40c and I think I read on this forum that the max operating temp for the 7000 is 45c.

Might have to make it with stubbie holders, that way you could put ice cold beers either side. Might make the machine a little heavier but you'll have to work on that by drinking them! But then we have a cooling problem!!! Bit of a vicious circle, you would have to park on your patch as you will only get two drinks away from the fridge.
On a more serious note a may look into a lining that you can wet and let the material's wicking abilities cool the machine(and incorperate the ice pack), that way a simple top up from your water bottle will keep it cool. Just a thought for now, would have to try it out and bring out a special version for the hotter areas.

Just found out the the 7000 it not waterproof at all. So a cover with an ice pack, or a wet cover is out of the question. If the machine doesn't work well on the hot days then you'll have to dust off the trusty GPX.
Well I'm Getting closer on a proto type. Will take it out for a field test after I get one.

Re: Black Al GPZ 7000 Covers
Hi Al,
The coil is waterproof to one meter, the rest of the GPZ is "weather resistant". The reality is it is sealed up the same as the CTX and I would have little fear dropping my GPZ in a water puddle. I think we can all agree the CTX was a stretch as being waterproof. Minelab probably did not want to have any risk with leakage issues on a $10,000 detector and so wisely just called the GPZ weather resistant instead.
I was very impressed with your cover for the SDC 2300 but my SDC was so beat up by the time you made the cover I did not worry about it. My GPZ however is another story. I would like to buy the cover from you as soon as they are available. Or if Rob Allison is going to carry them in the states (I assume he will) then I will get one from him.
Thank you for making quality aftermarket accessories for our detectors.

Most appreciate the great feedback, I have almost finished designing the GPZ 7000 cover as the control box is a detailed shape to cover. It will be consrtucted with the same materials as the SDC2300, but i will bring in new colours. If you want to protect the machine then I suggest a tea towel with tape to hold it in place will serve its purpose till the covers are available.Im sure that Rob will get in covers as soon as I tell him that they are available.
Best regards Black Al.

Re: Black Al GPZ 7000 Covers
Hi Al,
I haven't seen the GPZ in the flesh yet, but do you think that the rear section of the cover could be designed so that the battery can be replaced without having to remove the cover - maybe something similar to your SDC design?

Hi Mechanoid, Ive already incorperated that in the design. The design of the cover is already been created, just working on a few tid bits that make it look the part and protect the controlbox. It already looks pretty good and cant wait for a final design that im happy with. The hard part is getting things done with a one year old running around the house tearing the place apart. Gotta love em, I should have a few pics posted by tomorrow night.
Hang in there members I'll have them ready soon!

Hi Dale won't be too much longer mate. I have the cover designed but trying to work out a practical pocket as the first few designs I didn't like. So as soon as that's done there should be pics of the cover posted by tonight.
Was going to have it ready last night but the little man tripped over and busted his lip open, it sort of put a spanner in the works.
As soon as we have it all worked out we will immediately start making them ,and the orders are first in first served. I will also have a price worked out too.
Best regards Al.

The GPZ7000 Cover by A-Z Prospecting
Hi members here is the cover finally. This kit will protect the control box, hand grip, armrest and a screen protector to maximise the life of the display. Please keep in mind that I will only be making these kits for a short while as the new detecting season is just around the corner. If you miss out before I start the new dectecting season I will be producing again when the hot weather sets back in.
The cover is constructed with the same materials as the SDC cover. The underside of the cover has a hard wearing rubber strip stiched on to prevent early cover failure by the control box's feet from rubbing through. The cover also has a pocket to allow storage of the WM12 module.
The reason for the hand wrap is I have seen what can happen to a CTX 3030 handle, unfortunatley the factory hand grip is not replaceable. The choice of hand grip is used by professionals in sports and is of a high quality. I will provide step by step instructions for people to fit this wrap correctly. The screen guard will protect your screen from abrasions only, this protector is not designed to accept impact. Im looking to where I can get these Impact absorbing Tempered glass screen guards but have not had any success yet. I am also still making a cover for the display box to protect the housing and a film to go over the buttons to protect the keypad.
This cover will be made for right handed opperation as a standard, Left handed covers are available by request and will be placed in a order cue.
Now for the price of the covers will be worked out very soon.
If you have any questions please ask and I will try to do what I can.
Best regards Black Al
