we got away from the subject a bit.
I use brickcleanig acid for ironstone.
hydrofluoric acid for quartz (hard to get)
what is everybody else using

Yes they are the norm, but the HFC acid is very dangerous and you should make sure you used the correct safety gear/precautions when using said acid/s.

If there is quartz with the gold, and you think the quartz could become whiter, then wombat told me to soak
It in domestos for a bit, sorry  can't remember how long for  scratch
Also I have seen some of Wombats gold with quartz, the quartz was whiter, but I don't think it works
For all quartz.
